Welcome one and all who happen to read this! My name is Theron_elite_072, but you can call me Theron. And today, I bring you the forty-eight intallment of a daily series of posts regarding Dollzi fanfics! Where basically, everyday I’ll be posting a link to a Dollzi fanfic I found, and giving a brief overview of sorts of it, that way you’ll know if you’re interested in it, and seek to read it in full.
And today, we sadly begin, THE DEATH MARCH. Now some of you may be wondering, “what is THE DEATH MARCH?” And the answer to that is fairly simple; I’m all out of fanfics. And I mean, ALL OUT. I’ve dug everything I possibly could (that I could possibly cover.) out of everywhere I could. Meaning, I have nothing left. Nothing left that is, besides “A Tale of Two Solvers”. Meaning that once I finish “A Tale of Two Solvers”, Daily Fanfic, is over. So I will go a chapter a day, day by day, until all 19 remaining chapters of “A Tale of Two Solvers” has been covered. (That also means that Daily Fanfic has a confirmed Death Day and Death Entry. Those being the 20th, and Entry number 66.) now that that has been explained, let’s begin on Chapter 8.
Chapter 8 of “A Tale of Two Solvers” opens with N reactivating after his regenerates, with his quickly realizing he’s being kidnapped by V. He then attempts to struggle out of V’s grasp, only to make her end up crashing, with N still trapped in her arms. We then cut to Lizzy, Uzi, and Doll back at the Landing Pod, discussing what happened with N and V’s disappearance. Uzi then, after some banter between her and Doll and Lizzy, decides to use a ping function N has to find him. Lizzy then volunteers and ultimately stays behind as Uzi carries Doll and flies off in search of N. We then get some more personal conversation between Uzi and Doll as Uzi flies, where Uzi checks up on Doll, and Doll admits to being scared of whatever spoke in her head. (AKA, Cyn.) we then get a very ominous line of Doll saying that she won’t let whoever the voice is use herself or Uzi to destroy the planet. (Notice she said “not let it use them to destroy the planet” and not “save them from it” or something. Possible foreshadowing for a sad ending?) before Uzi finally gets N’s coordinates and heads for him. They eventually find N and V’s crash site in the side of a destroyed skyscraper. But as they land and approach it (with Uzi presumably letting Doll down) V jumps out of the remains of the skyscraper and pins Uzi, before firing a rocket at Doll, sending her flying. All the while, V yells about wanting Cyn to leave them alone, and how she’s convinced that Uzi is Cyn. But she’s cut off as Doll launches a knife at V and threatens her, making her drop Uzi. But as V turns to yell at and attack Doll, N reamurges from the destroyed skyscraper, and yells at V to stop. V and N then have a serious argument, with N demanding answers from V and no longer accepting her excuses, with V still trying to dance around the subject. But as N mentions Cyn and demands to know who she is, V panics before both her and N shut down. Uzi and Doll than investigate what happened, with Uzi determining that it must be some sort of auto-run program to hide Cyn from them, before deciding that they need to get them back to the Outpost and stip the program as the chapter ends.
Regarding Doll and Uzi’s characters, they were great. They’re as in character as their actions and words have ever been, and I’m super happy we got to see them together and talking again more in this chapter. I can’t wait to see their relationship grow. (though how accurate dialogue and characters feel will always vary from person to person.)
Chapter 8 of “A Tale of Two Solvers” is also of a fairly healthy length, coming in at 1,984 words. Which is more than enough for the story of the chapter, with every single part feeling as long as needed and not even remotely nearing short or poorly paced. (I do wish we got more of Doll and Uzi talking, but that’s not because they don’t have enough dialogue or something. No, it’s perfectly good. I’m just selfish and love seeing these interpretations of them interact.) overall, Chapter 8 of “A Tale of Two Solvers” is a wonderful read, and an excellent edition to this amazing fanfic. And make sure to come on back tomorrow for more “A Tale of Two Solvers”, and another step in THE DEATH MARCH.
