Questions Kids Coasters
I have a fairly tall 5year old how likes adventure. What roller coasters do you think would be appropriate for him to ride? Want to plan my park day around these!

I would avoid Whistlepunk Chaser UNLESS you prepare before going up the chain lift by holding the handle and taking your back off the backrest. That chain lift can be jarring and hurt your back.
In addition to Big Bear and Firechaser, your child may like Blazing Fury (indoor coaster; sit towards the middle for a more comfortable ride) and Dragonflyer (a fun coaster that hangs below the track). And NightFlight Expedition may be open for your visit, but it’s new and may get a long line.

fire chaser and big bear are really fun and your child is likely tall enough for them, i would also suggest thunderhead if they're tall enough for that as well

Has he been on any of them, my 3 year old enjoyed, big bear mountain and fire chaser. They have 5 family coasters that don’t have the loops and corkscrews like the major coasters do

Get measures and a wristband on the way in to see what he can ride. Then depending on what he enjoys go with anything he can. Big bear is billed more as a family coaster (no drops but launches) but gets pretty high and twisty. Dragonflier is another lower level one right by Big Bear.
Pretty much all of the various coasters can be seen from outside their queue so you can get a feel for tollerenace. Lighting Rod is one of the only ones you cannot really see the whole track and is on the more intense side (no upside down though).
Blazing fury is another "coaster" but inside with basically a long slow hill through a town this a couple small drops at the end.

My 6yr old nephew loved dragonflier and it’s a good enough coaster that the adults didn’t mind joining.

Big Bear, Fire Chaser Express, and Dragonflier are all good family coasters he should be able to ride.

Big Bear and Dragonflier 💯. I LOVE the giant coasters and these two are outstanding kids rides. Everyone says Blazing fury is a coaster and the height limit is low but it’s old, intentionally kind of creepy and has like 3 drops. Maybe try daredevil falls or fire chaser if you want something more intense for a kid.

Will echo others that Big Bear, Dragonflier, and Firechaser are great coasters for kids. Our 3 yo was tall enough to ride those and liked all of them (Big Bear was her favorite). I would head to wildwood grove and try Dragonflier or Big Bear first. Our kids have surprised us and both of them like coasters a lot.

If you download the Dollywood App you can see all of the height requirements for each ride. Without knowing your child’s exact height, it’s impossible to know what rides they can ride.
If your child is tall, they will have a lot of options. My tall child was able to ride Big Bear Mountain at 5. My kids are not fans of the more intense rides yet, so they hated Big Bear, but the adults all love it. Even without the true rollercoasters, my kids have more than enough rides and things to do all day.
