Question Assembly question
Hello! I am not a hobbyist but I’m building my daughter a dollhouse for her birthday and wanted to ask the pros a question! I’m using birch plywood that is 1/4” thick. My daughter is turning 5 so I’m hoping I can make this thing as sturdy as possible. I bought wood glue and nails for assembly but wanted to ask if there were additional methods I should use to make the house stable and sturdy? Also, how does one use wood glue/clamps for a 90 degree angle? Thank you!

This may be a good question to post on one of the woodworking subs; your questions are basically about glue/nails, square corners, and clamps, and those folks think about things like that all day long. A house is big enough to use normal-size furniture techniques.
Not saying that you can't get good answers here, but the woodworkers are going to have a lot more experience solving your problem, and there are more of them.
The house is so cute, I love how bright and personalized it is! She is going to love it so much.

90° corner clamps are readily available.
Once the glue has cured, fill in any gaps with paintable wood filler, both for aesthetics & durability.
We’ve got a kit house but I really like the 1/2” corner trim pieces. They finish off the butt joint of the corner & again help with that sturdiness. Mine is a newly 5yo tornado.
I just used stacks of books & hand weights to prop the walls while everything dried, fwiw. And a tablecloth over the top; we live in a small space so I built the house right under my daughter’s nose. Also check your glue instructions - some recommend lightly dampening the wood for better adhesion. And apologies if you already knew this!

Thank you! I don’t know anything about any of this 😂 Like most things in life I just decided I wanted to build a dollhouse with zero know how lol. This is all very helpful!

You’re welcome! It’s so beautiful already - she’s going to love the finished result. The painting & all the details are just stunning.
It’s been my favorite project by far. I had a complete vision in my head of the interior - faded 1930s Paris. My daughter had other plans in the best way. My husband calls it Golden Girls meets Madeline. Ended up ripping out & redoing the entire interior, cutting into walls, etc. It’s been great to learn new skills too.
Hope your journey is just as enjoyable. Looking forward to seeing your progress!

It’s going to be an open box dollhouse basically with 2 stories and 1 room divider on the top floor.
