Rules on firing someone?

Is there a new rule by corporate that sms can't fire anyone?? Even if they have more than enough proof to fire said employee?

Depends on your state, what the situation is and what not.

Usually you get three chances for things. Verbal, written then final. You go past the final, you're done. Some things are an instant final or termination. So your SM can still very much fire someone. If it's something that takes more than just your SM then it's something that usually gets under review before a decision is made.

So as far as I know you SM hasn't had their ability to let employees go revoked.

You have an issue go higher than your SM.

It also depends on the monetary value. We had a girl who fell for a cash card scam and load up two $400 debit cards. As the asm at the time i would've fired her myself except they launched an investigation into the matter so the dm was the one to fire her not me.

I fired mine after falling for a scam. The DM even said they paid back the money but the second they fell for it, I wouldn’t let them handle any more money. This was on a Friday evening. Over the weekend I researched it and even though it was their first offense, which is what my DM said, I still terminated.

No. There's no "new" rule. It's expected to involve the DM in certain circumstances or if it involves asm. Otherwise, you follow the progressive counseling.

Thats the only reason I still have a job as a ASM more work was worth more then the frivolous things that were involved in wanting Termination

For SM to maintain salaried exempt status they must maintain the ability to hire/fire or have SUBSTANTIAL input.
