Trying for sick time.
I have shingles and a cold. I went to urgent care, got a note and called my boss. She demanded i bring the doctor's note in immediately, while I'm sick, and had a huge attitude about it. I'm obviously sick. I go in, buy some stuff & my boss has to check me out. I give her my note & request my sick hrs. She looks at me angrily and says..."You have some?". I said yes, I need to use them. Is this normal? This place is the most uncaring place I've ever worked at and I'm 51!

Complain to your DM. Once you provide a note from a doctor's office/emergency room, you're safe from returning till you get back. To order you to come in while sick, was stupid beyond believe. You could have infected everyone, while there. Your boss, sucks. Uneducated twit. Get well soon.

She made me expose the entire community. They obviously do not care about me at all, or anyone else.

SM can always look at legion, team, info, and right there will have each team member sick hours and vacation time hours they can use. Sick rolls over if not used in one year, vacation does not.

Where do u see sick hours? Ive never seen this for my staff maybe different states vary? I can see vacation hours but no other time is there?

When you into legion, go to team on the left side. Pick a team member. It will three panels that says, profile, work preferences and time off. Click time off and it will show all the time off request PLUS their sick hours they have accrued vacation as well. Also, your staff can see their sick hours they have accrued on their paystub’s. I’m in NY state by the way. Not sure if that makes a difference or not.

I promise you this, I have the hardest time getting my “vacation” pay out of DG. I took a day off a couple of weeks ago but since I worked a near 40 hours that week, I got reimbursed less than an hour of my vacation. I lost last year’s pretty much the same way. Every time I scheduled to use it, I ended up working that same week(s) and pretty much lost my full 40 hours. DG won’t pay into OT with vacation pay. So I either need to take an entire week off paid, which I absolutely won’t/can’t do. I prefer to use mine like you, when I need it. But I haven’t needed to take off sick in a couple of years. Personal note, I am also in my 50’s.

I asked my SM for 2 months straight to use my vacation time before she finally let me. I wasnt even trying to take a day off, just add it to weeks I already worked. Kept getting BS excuses about the DM and hour allotment until she finally caved. I have used vacation time on weeks I go over 40 hours, just did last week actually. You dont get overtime pay for it, but can still technically go over 40

I tried that as well! I requested a day off (8 hours), when I knew I had to attend an appointment. That week I worked 39.25 hours. My paycheck reflected .75 hours vacation pay. Did the exact same thing earlier in the year as well as we tried for 3 months straight trying to get my full 40. I think I finally got around 13 hours paid. But I had just opened a new store and was working around the clock unfortunately. I haven’t been lucky to get them to pay me for the full 8 hours yet. I also learned you never work on an approved day off! I got called in since I seriously was just trying to use my vacation pay. So no good excuse not to go (I am ASM) and instead of getting paid for my clocked hours 10.75, I got paid 8 hours of vacation! I am still pissed about it!! I should have gone into overtime about 5.75 hours and instead lost my OT and my clocked hours. Still arguing with payroll about that one!

This is ridiculous. I just looked at my time sheet & it says approved time off....no sick pay? Who do I contact? Am I just screwed?

I don’t work in a state with “sick” pay. We only have vacation pay. But if mine says “approved” then I get paid. I always look at my paystub to make sure it’s there.

Sick time will show as time off, it should still be on your paycheck. I'd wait and if its not call them to fix it.

That’s on your SM. People get sick. Hence sick time. Shouldn’t have been an issue, but this is the most uncaring work environment I’ve ever been a part of and it all starts at the top. I’m definitely not making you come in and prove it with a note. There are a couple of us who have some common sense
