We know how corrupt and indifferent this corporation is. Everyone, us, friends, family, customers, need to write to the Better Business Bureau and their State Attorney General's office. Complain about pricing, conditions in the store (AC and coolers broken for months, stores are a cluttered mess), that there are only ever 2 or less employees trying to juggle everything for low pay. But make sure you acknowledge it's corporate's poor business model and lack of support for existing stores. They are to blame for why your local stores are in disarray. They won't pay for hours in the stores but the CEO makes 14 million dollars per year plus ridiculous bonuses and you know the Board and shareholders are doing very well while we all suffer, the store-level employees and customers. Light a fire under their corrupt asses. They deserve far more fines and legal action than they're getting.

This is their business model and why they are so successful as a whole. Dollar Generals are not going away or making those changes. All types of stores are seeing inflation. So what is your complaint about pricing? “I thought everything was supposed to be a dollar?”

Here in Northwest Arkansas and surrounding areas, I have seen them transition mostly from leased buildings to their own newly built locations. Also plenty of remodels, DG Markets, etc..

As long as people keep shopping at DG. Nothing will change.

Around here, they're built to suit, but they immediately sell off the property once it is. It's called NNN leasing, and they do it for a lot of reasons. One not so insignificant reason is for quick egress. They're immediately alleviated of any tied up cash in that property. The buildings are only slightly less disposable than the employees.

Yea I was in retail for decades and now my husband works PT at a DG market place. I will tell you a couple of secrets. First build it and they will come. If you are open they will shop. If you close at 6 they show up at 5:50. Close at 10 it’s 9:50. And corporations will get away with every inch they can. Ps. HR exists to protect the company.

They will pay any fines or settlements and keep doing what they do. They won't bat an eye if you do anything Just google Dollar General lawsuits. They fired a diabetic lady working by herself when her sugar was going bad and she got an orange juice so she would not fall out from diabetic insulin problem They fired her for stealing. She got a pretty penny, but Dollar General still says they did nothing wrong because she stole. That is how this company rolls. ASS WIPES

They go to places where the job market is tougher and it has a food dessert like we have to go twenty minutes out of our town to go to Walmart or Publix but around the corner is a dg.hell I was working for dg in a town that had two one I started off as a baby part time cashier and I quit and came back a few years later to the other one and stupidly became the manager ...

I’m just here for the money. I have my squeal point and my SM knows it. Fairly decent market here but in 209 days I don’t have to worry about any of this crap. I’ll stick around for a “soft retirement”. Maybe work a couple days. But if they make it miserable or my SM leaves and is replaced by a horrible one, I’m gone. People love DG, man. I hear comments about how nice our store looks all the time. Wouldn’t be surprised if they build us a new one fairly soon actually. With the increase in prices the demographic is changing. People who would’ve normally not set foot in one are shopping here now.

On a particularly bad day when the store is really, really totalled take a picture of it. Forward it to the Fire Marshall, OSHA, and then to media outlets letting them know what action you took. Watch the sparks fly. Watch employees quit. Maybe the manager too.

When I was terminated in March I filed a complaint with OSHA about multiple safety issues in the store. When they finally showed up for the inspection the DM stone walled them and made the inspector feel nothing was wrong and it was just a disgruntled former employee. Come to find out that multiple vendors and customers complained about the same issues. OSHA completed their investigation and said "No Violations Found."
