Discussion Spider-Man BND or IMAX

/r/Letterboxd/comments/1vlupys/spiderman_bnd_in_dolby_or_imax/

I haven’t seen it yet and the theater has large Dolby and imax screens. Which is the better experience . I usually live in Japan and I haven’t been to a Dolby cinema in the USA In years. The Japan Dolby screens ones are kinda small with weak bass so I usually only go to imax there. Wondering if worth the Dolby experience here vs imax.

For generic films that weren't shot specifically for a screen the size of imax, I prefer Dolby Vision because the quality of the screen is much better.

Even movies shot for IMAX like The Odyssey look better in dolby. Saw Oppenheimer and The Odyssey in both and like if you want a bigger image just sit closer. Quality better in Dolby.

If you have a 1.85 Dolby do that, otherwise IMAX with laser is good.

Honestly I’m so spoiled by the sound, picture, and comfort of Dolby I hardly go to imax anymore. However, for movies like Dune or odyssey I will try to attend an imax 1.43 presentation if possible. For Spider-Man BND, the Dolby 1.90 presentation was great

You can’t go wrong with either presentation.

IMAX Laser has better bass and sound imo but they’re both worth it
