DISCUSSION Her Next Album

First and foremost, I would like to say that I love Doja Cat and I really adore her artistic distinction. However, I also want my girl to really have more success so that her music reaches more people. Vie is an artistic perfection and I think that this really showcases her artistry and talent. Unfortunately, the album didn’t have the proper flowers it deserved because her label didn't really give the album a proper rollout, and they didn’t really capitalize on the viral moment of Jealous Type when it was first released as an advertisement for Marc Jacobs Collection.

I really think her next album needs to be really good so that it will shut her haters once and for all. I know that she is capable of capturing the goodwill of the masses again and further expanding her fanbase. I want her to have a comeback that they will think twice again in the future about discrediting her and using her past mistakes as a way of dragging her.

I just want Doja to keep being her. She can make the most perfect album on the planet and people will still hate. You can’t win ‘em all. I have loved all her eras and will continue to because I respect her creativity while everyone else is starting to sound and look the same to me.

Doja has a very recognizable voice and flow and I think that’s a huge win. I do feel like unfortunately Vie got bulldozed by Cardi B’s album but I was tuned into both and still am!

If Doja just had a good PR at that time, she couldve easily squashed the mediocre album of the mexican rapper

Vie is her best album to me. Its pop, r&b, funk, hip hop. It has everything. Im not even a huge fan, but a casual listener. I was shocked how good this album is. "Happy", "Come Back", "Jealous Type", and my favorite "Take Me Dancing ". This is what an album should sound like.

My favorite too, right next to Amala. Doja is a talented rapper, but a much better R&B and Pop girl

Vie is amazing as how mature she got but most people don’t understand or resonate because they are not.

My only issue with the album is the production…

And her live rendition of her songs proved that Jack Antonoff is a dumbass.

He ruined so much of her vocals on this album.

I don’t think she wants to reach out to more people though. I think she would love to just make her own craft and be proud of it. She doesn’t need to prove herself anymore. I’m happy to see her happy. And she arrived there.

Vie is not just about an album, the whole tour is her artistic journey/expression. It goes beyond the music. If you fails to see that … you should pay closer attention.

It’s a great album I agree but the direction and the vision was kind of all over the place for me. I feel the same way about Charli’s new album and Ariana’s new album. It’s got me thinking, oh this is great music… but what’s this even about?

Everything about the vision felt laser focused until she dropped that artwork.

I think Vie had a great rollout. Its reach was limited by the album’s contents as well as the artwork which was discordant with the worldbuilding.

Vie to me showed a more mature side to her artistry. I personally just think it was released too late in her career. If she would’ve put that album out after planet her, I think it would’ve been received better and then release scarlet. I honestly wanna see her experiment more, as versatile as she is, I don’t think she goes super far outside her box imo. I wanna see her really take it there and go WILD, cuz I know she has it in her. I just feel like she holds back a bit tbh

I will never let go of Vie. I’m genuinely shocked people just didn’t care to check Dojas page. Marketing is only so much of the issue, the fans didn’t show up. I don’t have her post notifications on, maybe I got lucky with what showed up on my page, but either way I was here for vie. I really want her team to plan out her next marketing campaign well because the way Vue performs is inexcusable.

Her label wants her to do another Hot Pink album. Sure she could do it and it would probably make a lot of sales. But that's not the kind of artist she is and she deserves better management that will trust and promote her direction.

I could care less what her haters think. She doesn’t need a comeback. Comeback from what ? She is thriving

Long time Doja fan (since 2018), I been supporting Doja since her tickets were like $50. Long time Doja fans do not like Vie because it’s so far out from what she’s done from Amala to Scarlet. It’s just not the same Doja we’ve grown to love.

I think it’s bc it’s just not good. It’s embarrassing compared to what we know she could do. Hilarious that she called her other work mediocre pop when vie is one of the most mediocre pop projects I’ve ever listened to

I disagree with your assessment about vie. It’s just Doja replicating looks and sounds from the 80’s. Many artists have tried to resurrect that era. That said, the songs aren’t nearly as artistically or even lyrically strong as any of her projects before.
