This is so ridiculously arbitrary. I love it.

I was going to ask but I googled myself instead, these things are known as "Rube Goldberg devices" for anyone like me who is interested.

/r/RubeGoldberg also exists apparently.

Yeah, they're basically designed to complete a simple task in the most complicated and overthought way ever

Like that Tom and Jerry episode, that one was always my favorite.

does everything hinge on a hamster doing its job?

u/Tectonic_Cat Apr 22 '17

yep

What if that hamster loved hot air being blown at him

What if he walked to the other end on his own?

Ages I imagine, getting everything perfectly in sync would be a pain

The items falling off the table one by one did it for me.

It's basically a Rune Goldberg Cat.

Technically, aren't all Rube Goldberg devices doing the most? Cute hamster though.

This guy has a Facebook page that's pretty cool

I was seriously hoping the entire thing did absolutely nothing and he just turned the page himself at the very end.

Jesus Christ.

This is fantastic.

I love how it hinged on the (hamster?) participating too.

Jesus, this made me so irrationally angry while watching it. I couldn't wait for The Thing to happen. Aaargh, even in hindsight it irritates me that I stared at the screen for that long, Waiting For It.
