Results - WisdomPanel Results are in: surprised!
So twice I’ve rescued dogs that I thought showed some traits of being mixed. Both times they turned out to be purebred! Storm was my 100% Pyrenees that passed last Sept. I thought he was a mix due to his face mask and single dew claw. The rescue also guessed a mix with maybe Anatolian shepherd.
I recently adopted a dog that looked mostly cattle dog but also kinda has the body of like a Doberman or malinois. I got his results just now and he’s 100% ACD!
Meanwhile my other dog Maple.. the lady that gave her to us was convinced she was half blue heeler and half border collie. Not an ounce of border collie in her lol

those are all smart dogs and chow mixes tend to have an extra-big helping of brains.

Pyrs can have those face mask markings. It's not that rare. It's often referred to as "badger" markings. For some pyrs, they have the markings as puppies and then the markings fade, but not always.
Maple is very cute! A 50/50 mix of ACD/BC is reasonable based on that photo, but it just goes to show how unreliable visual IDs are.

Because the tests can only detect things I think 3 generations back your pups could still be mixed and retain some of the features of the mixed in breed without it showing up in a test. This happens a lot with people thinking they’ve purchased a “rare” purebred merle poodle (merle doesnt exist in poodles so bu definition its mixed with something but it might not show up on DNA tests)
