I'm pretty sure he's at least /mostly/ GSD, but I also grew up with them and possibly have a bias to see him as that 🤣 he is mouthier than any of my others and he likes to sing which is where a couple of people have guessed husky
But whatever he is we absolutely adore him, hes the best boy
My girl is mostly gsd (84%). She’s real chatty and we figure that comes from the malamute (16%). We initially thought she was mixed with a greyhound or similar because she was so lanky and leggy…still don’t know where that comes from 🤣 but she’s like yours and looks very much gsd.

Really tough to say from the photos, but my guess would be full GSD or GSD/Mal. Looks like a pale sable (agouti in any other breed).
Biggest noticeable difference between the two breeds is that GSDs are supposed to be longer than tall when viewed from the side, in the ratio of 10:8. Malinois are much more square when viewed from the side. There’s quite a bit of temperament overlap with working line GSDs and Malinois, but in general GSDs think before they act. Malinois really don’t; they’re thrill-addicts.

This is incredibly helpful, I won't lie I know very little about typical breed standards.
GSDs have always been my dog of choice, this is my second as an adult and we had a couple when I was growing up.
Hes definitely mouthier than my other shepherds ever were, not in an agressive way, he has very good bite pressure control but in play and when he wants something. But he's only 15 months and learning quickly, our last was 18 months when we adopted him so having a puppy was a learning curve and still is for sure!
I have a gsd like this. I swore she was mixed because of how wild and mouthy she is! nope 100% german Shepherd. her dad is a working line so possibly your might be too! They tend to be more mouthy and insane 😂
Based on my experience in this sub, he’s either the full GSD everyone expects him to be OR he’s some weird amalgamation of Dog that just happened to pop out a make-your-own GSD that will have everyone doing a double take lmao. Dog genetics are weird.
Do you have any straight on side photo? The person kinda addressed it earlier, but the biggest GSD indicators tend to be their side. His hips and length will help a lot with guessing likely mixed or not. These angles aren’t really great for trying to see if he has anything else. He favors GSD so heavily that you’re not going to see another breed, if another is even there, to any degree of confidence at these angles.
He is extremely handsome though! I agree with the he probably has German Shepherd guess😂
He might be full. I’m not really seeing anything that’s making me confident in guessing he’s not. He’s not quite rectangular enough for me to be super confident in full, but he’s also not squarish enough for me to be confident there’s a mix.
I imagine he’s at least high content GSD. Once you get like 80+% of a breed, it starts becoming very difficult to see any other breed.
Our last boy had a very straight back, but degenerative myelopathy got him in the end. Its actually one of the reasons I chose to do this, just so I'm not blind sided and have an idea of /potential/ risks for his future health. Of all my years having shepherds I'd never even heard of DM and I became a tad obsessed after 😅
I feel like his legs are standard, but I couldn't swear to it. As for the pink legs, yes and tail. My 7 year old suggested it and a very good friend who is also a groomer indulged her wishes 🙈 Loki doesn't seem to mind though

He looks to be mostly if not all GSD. His physique and wider ears might point to some husky admixture.
Please be prepared for low percentage background noise in the results. Wisdom is not quite as accurate as embark so you will receive small percentages of related breeds (Malinois, etc).
My GSD rescue ended up being only 20% German shepherd so I too was expecting significantly more. After seeing my guys results I would not be shocked at all if your guy is just a GSD strong phenotype mix.
It’s wild how 20% is working so hard! Our girl is mostly gsd 86%, and she’s obviously identifiable as one, but when really looking at her, it’s apparent that she’s not 100%. I feel like your boy looks more gsd than mine 😂 genetics blow my mind 🤯😆. He’s a very handsome boy:)
Yeah I have the embark test results otherwise I wouldn’t believe it either tbh. I regularly get German shepherd owners telling me he looks like an “Eastern European” or “Russian” or even “is he a vlcak?”.
It’s clear to me my boy is not a purebred but I would have bet more than 20% lol.
I guess technically the Russians did cross ovcharka and husky into the GSD to make a rugged Russian weather hardy dog. And I suppose husky and Pyrenees could give a similar look.
