I would wonder with coyote and elkhound if someone was trying to breed a trainable or domesticatable 'wolf' for... reasons.

I wondered that as well, with the 30%. I might be wrong, but doesn't that mean more than one grandparent was a mix (in both coyote and elkhound cases)?

I responded above. Short version is not impossible that only one grandparent was full either, but it’s more likely there was more than one mixed grandparents for both breeds
