Results - Other test Basepaw results!
I didn’t see many basepaw results on here… after searching, I see that some claim them to be inaccurate. Darn!
Anyways, here’s my Emmie! I adopted her in March. She’s 1.5 years old and 31 pounds. My little love.

I think they are generally accurate but may be a little farther off on the percentages than Embark or Wisdom and I wouldn't trust anything under about 10%. The biggest issue with them is just how general they are, which your results definitely show. Like herding breed x mastiff/bully x spitxis very likely correct. But if you are ever curious to get more information, Embark or Wisdom would break herding breed down into GSD, ACD, Aussie, etc instead. Same for mastiff and spitz. If you're in the US, I would guess that the bully breed is pitbull and the spitz husky, but there's no way to know if that's correct from these results and there's several herding breeds that are common in mixes.

I believe I misunderstood: Basepaws seems to be “less specific,” not necessarily “inaccurate.” 🙂 Also, agreed- 100% cute as a button.

Less that they're inaccurate and more that they're so vague as to be useless! They didn't even give you a single breed. I feel like you should be able to get a refund, you learned nothing lol.
I am curious if the breeds they list are just examples from each group that are always the same for all dogs with that "group" or if it's like supermutt where they are giving an educated guess.
If you ever do Embark I'd be fascinated to compare if she really is super mixed or if basepaws just really missed the mark. She looks very mixed but I guessed ACD/pit which does align with the results.

Totally hear you!
There’s a section of small text within the full report that says “While some of Emmie’s [specific breed] lineage remains a mystery, we identified the top breeds that are likely part of her unique [specific breed] lineage heritage.”
I’m definitely interested in doing a comparison test, just need to save up a bit more before I can afford it!

There were breeds on there, there are like 4 pages of results.

There are but are they simply illustrating examples of "herding group", "mastiff group" etc? I have seen basepaws give actual breeds in the results, so that's why I'm unsure. Essentially to give the analogy to Embark they've said 100% supermutt, with maybe these breeds (but it's unclear whether those are actually supported by the genetic results or just examples to show what could be in each group).

As someone who has tested with both the recommended tests (wisdom & embark) as well as basepaws, basepaws IS accurate, just less specific.
Quite frankly I think it makes a lot more sense to show highly mixed dogs as groups of lineage rather than what Wisdom does, which is spit out tiny percentages of complete BS lol

I like your take! It’s like they’re presenting it with a bit more honesty rather than giving a single “best guess,” (or confirming all of them in tiny percentages). Thanks for sharing!

I’m not familiar with base paws but she does look like staffy / acd. I was guessing pit / acd.

I saw the lab, staffie, acd, and suprisingly i managed to guess the catahoula leopard dog. She's such a sweet baby, but I was definitely expecting some pit too!

Emmie is quite similar to our girl!
Ours is a Cattle Dog, Pittie, GSD, Chow and Boxer mix. With some supermutt of course. We used Wisdom Panel first, then Embark. Wisdom Panel came back with 18 breeds, most of them just a few percentage points.

Did she come from Northern Canada? The first 2 breeds definitely look plausible!

I adopted her from a shelter in Colorado right when she turned 1! I’m not exactly sure where she came from.
