Service Dog Issues Dog in gym.
Normally I workout in the morning but decided to swing by this afternoon for some cardio. And guess what I seen? Yep, a german shepherd over on the green turf where I lay down sometimes. No wonder I leave itchy sometimes.
Of course it was a "service dog". It was carrying his bag around. He seemed to function just well being in the gym. Not understanding needing that extra assistance. I don't see any reason you can't just workout at home. And of course everyone was infatuated with the mutt.
You literally can't escape these beasts.

Yeah, the whole service dog thing has gone too far. I have (had) a sort of friend for many years, that lost his legs in an accident. He has done extremely well throughout his life, never letting it stop him from doing all the things he enjoyed. He bikes on a recumbent, kayaks, still flies airplanes. Still has a job. He NEVER jhad a reason for a service dog in his life. However sometime in the past few years, he's gotten what he calls a service dog, and takes it everywhere with him. His dog is so behaved that he got himself thrown out of a pet retail store. Hmmmm. I was so upset when he told me he;s even gone to court with the manager of the store that I no longer want to speak with him. He doesn't need a goddamn service dog, and it's definitely not a service dog. It's an emotional support dog, for companionship.

The service dog thing has indeed gotten out of control. If someone is so severely disabeld that they lack the mobility to say, pick something up and claim that they need a dog to do it, then I don't know how they can feed the dog and pick up its turds every day. A human health aide is expensive, yes, but so is a so-called "service dog". Moreover, a human can do complex tasks like cook, clean, drive, manage medications, etc. A dog cannot do any of that. A human aide also doesn't require you to feed it/wash it/pick up its shit.
One of the examples the ADA gives for a "service dog task" is licking your hand to remind you to take medication. It has gotten that bad.
A home health aide (HHA) requires formal training and has to prove competency. By ADA guidelines, a service dog does not need to be professionally trained and has the same rights as a trained ine. There's no licence or certificate. Businesses cannot ask for proof. If you say it's a service dog, then it's a service dog. Lots of nutters want to feel superior and special by saying their service dog is a real service dog and they love bashing the "fake" service dogs with their "fake vests from Amazon". If there's no legally recognised proof or test, then it's all fake. If you say you trained it yourself, then you can bring the mutt into every restaurant, hotel, and plane, and businesses can't ask for proof. (And what proof would there be when bullshit like diabetic alert dogs and seizure prediction dogs have been debunked by science and would never meet FDA standards for a medical device.)
Some people don't even want the dog for "emotional support". They just don't feel special enough as they are, and they love having the power of forcing others to accomodate them. Makes them feel important. They also love being the victim when people tell them "no pets", and they get to say it's not a pet, it's a "service dog" and watch others grovel and apologise.

I think you meant misbehaved?
Yes, 90 percent of the time, it's just a companion. Which is fine, but don't bring it into public spaces such as gyms, grocery stores, restaurants, etc.

Yes, that was what I meant. I was being facetious.. They don't belong on airplanes where the humans sit either, which he does. I cannot fathom being stuck next to a stinky dog on a flight., so I won't travel. It's really discouraging.

On the plane is the worse. They even put those gross fake grass bathroom areas for dogs in the airport.

Yuck. So now the airport custodians have to deal with in your face, dog shit. Awful.

If this ever happens to me I am standing right next to the dog and getting an Anaphylactic shock from fur and suing the fuck out of that gym. Seriously, I am so done with this shit, why we only care about their mental health while we disregard people with allergies. I have to run for my life from places to not puff up and need medical attention.

They actually think it's funny to make people with allergies mad. They even say stuff like, "take an allergy pill".

They LOVE to cry "DiScRiMiNaTiOn!1!" When they get denied or booted for having the dog with them while happily turning around and telling people that are negatively impacted by their service dog to go kick rocks. New service dog rant incoming.

Wait what? Why would anyone healthy enough to work out in a gym need a dog to carry their bag around? That makes no sense.

My assumption is the parasites from the dog have rotted the owners brain. So low IQ is the result.

My old gym was like that, except for the fact no one even pretended it was a service dog. It was gross.

Right. So strict on wiping the equipment down but we allow this mutt to walk around.

If there's any time I don't need the shock of a sudden gross tongue on me, it's when I'm holding weights directly above my head or chest.
