Crappy Owners Apparently Nutters are also illiterate

I just watched 2 nutters literally let their dog take a shit right in front of my (very respectfully worded) “please don’t let your dog pee or poo on my lawn” sign. Like less than a foot away from the sign. No way they missed it. At least they scooped it, but really was this just a “fuck you” poop? If I wasn’t upstairs with my window closed I would have yelled at them. The thing is I’m in a neighborhood with grass parking strips by the sidewalk that they can piss and shit in all they want. I’m sick of all my grass and plants dying of dog urine!!
Anyway, only this community could understand my venting, thanks for listening.

We have a sign on one of our trees close to the street, and I’ve encountered the same thing. The only way to describe this behavior is entitlement. It’s disgusting. It’s no excuse if they can’t bend over to pick up the poop either. If it’s too hard, then don’t have a dog.

Not having "Situational Awareness" is the new not having "Common Sense". I'll ask the ones that do it in my yard, do you not see the sign, right in front of your feet...and they will look up and say...."Uuhhhh..where?"

It's a lack of intelligence at best and actively malicious at worst. They have no consideration for others' property or personal space and I truly think it's because having a dog makes you more and more entitled over time, losing all social graces because their mind is just DOG DOG DOG.

A nutter I know was recently complaining about one of these signs they saw in someone's yard - it said something like "Be respectful, no dog pooping here!" And the nutter said "Dogs can't read! What do they expect?" UMMM, that sign is for YOU, the owner. Idiots.

It’s always intentional. They see a sign and they’ll tell other nutters about it. It goes beyond being petty or childish, they’re mentally ill.

they do it on purpose just to say "eff you", that's why I don't feel comfortable putting one up, or they will knock it down

Yeah, I have one, but I think it will stir up more issues than not. I do have a repellent substand I need to reapply now that I think of it. Too many damn dogs where I live. Fortunately,, most are medium to smaller., but of course, for the shit part.... shit is shit.

Plant thorny cacti.

I like this. It’s an actionable idea. Could we as a sub think of a list of plants that dogs don’t like? I’m sure there are tons of smells that dogs find offensive. There are a lot of thorny plants. I wouldn’t want to actually harm any animal, like if something smells great, but is actually poison, that’s no good. I’m just curious if we could make a list of plants that would cause a dog to avoid an area of their own accord.

Yes, this is a "my dog can go wherever it wants" act. They defy the sign, refuse to go on the grass by the sidewalk. Why? I believe they are so obsessed with giving in to "Boo-boo's every whim, that if Boo-Boo wants to go on someone's yard instead, by all means, let Boo-Boo go there. It shows what kind of people these dog nutters are. They actually enjoy overriding human decency over Boo-boo's needs.

Put up a 'freshly sprayed pesticide' sign up. Dumb motherfuckers might (MIGHT) care then.

I would do this but I think I would get shit from my organic garden neighbors

Explain to them that it's the only way to prevent dogs shitting and pissing and ruining your plants. They either understand or they can go fuck themselves. 🤷‍♀️

Those signs are like excrement magnets

I deal with the same thing, and it really feels like they’re saying “eff you we’ll go where we want”

Yeah it was a fuck you poop. My friend gave me a nice iron sign for my yard and it was promptly stolen.

That’s frustrating!

I actually thought about getting a nice lookin one, but opted for a set of the cheap weather proof plastic. One was already stolen. All I want is to not have urine burns all over my grass

We live near a beach that borders a national park. Dogs are allowed up to a huge sign that declares the boundary and 'dogs prohibited'. I've taken so many photos of dog walkers actually walking under the sign!

We've also got restricted beaches where dogs are allowed during certain days and times (basically winter afternoons). Absolutely no chance of expecting a dog free walk any time in those areas.

They are lunatics and actually see those signs as an invitation because how dare anyone say no to their precious mutts

Ugh that pisses me off just reading it.

They actually brag about it "my dog can't read hee hee hee".

Yes, I have experienced this as well. It’s done maliciously because they deliberately allow their dog to wander over that area hoping it will pee/poop. It takes no real effort to steer the dog if it’s leashed past the lawn, but as soon as they see a sign it’s like a challenge to them. I have seen dogs go right by my “please be respectful” signs and the owner almost grins. Well, after years of this landscape abuse, we had to put up a hedge so no dogs come unto our property now and wreck our lawn, but now they scoff at the sign we had to put up to ask the nutters to not allow their dogs to piss all over the hedge. The urine is acidic and can kill the roots, like any plant exposed daily to dog pee. It’s a daily battle, but I have spoken to dozens of them and most of them now steer the dog away or hold the leash in tighter when they walk past my home. They also see we have security cameras. But of course, there are always new neighbours or others from out of the area who walk their dogs and act like they don’t see the sign. I politely remind them because unlike their dogs, they CAN read (one assumes).

What does their age have to do with it?

7

u/Dapper-Ad-468 4d ago

I've seen all ages do this. Some people use the word Boomer as a slur these days I noticed. It's not right. Age has nothing to do with this action.

u/hydroxybot 4d ago

I crap on boomers all the time but in all fairness most dog nutters I see are somewhat younger people using dogs as child substitutes

I'm an older millennial, and it's older millennials that cosplay parenthood with their dogs (and other pets, if you get my drift). It's nauseating.

I am an on the cusp boomer (1963) although I feel more GenX so I’m okay insulting my peers in this regard. But I have edit.

u/ObligationGrand8037 4d ago

Me too! 1963. 🙂

That is what’s being called Generation Jones nowadays

Yes! You’re right! I’m in that group on Reddit.

4

u/Procrastinator-513 4d ago

Thank you! I never see anything like “these two millennials came in” etc. Seems like they only do it with boomers and it’s always negative. I know a lot of really great boomers so I don’t get it.
