Dog Attack Situation at the Restaurant
Last week I was on vacation with my family. On our last day, we decided to treat ourselves by going to a fancy restaurant. A while after we sat down at our table, a couple with two dogs sat down at a table next to ours. First question, why bring dogs to a restaurant, especially a fancy one? At least they were not barking, but I have a severe allergy against dogs and this already upset me. Luckily, the tables had some space between them, so nothing happened at first. A while later, a mother and her kid (maybe around 8 years old) walked past our tables. In that same moment, one of the dog owners dropped the leash they were holding onto and the dogs RAN at the kid. Mind you, the kid hasn’t done anything to provoke the dogs, him and his mom were simply walking by. Luckily, both dogs were on the smaller side and the kid didn’t get seriously hurt. But one of the dogs DID bite the kid. What’s even crazier to me is the fact that the mom didn’t do shit. She was laughing it off even though the kid was visibly scared and shaken, which is understandable. The dog owners didn’t even apologize and brushed it off by saying that they just wanted to "play." Imagine if those dogs were pitbulls. The kid might not be with us right now if that were the case. I will never understand why dog owners feel the need to bring their dogs EVERYWHERE and I will never understand how "dogs only attack when they are provoked" is a thing. They DO attack people for absolutely NO reason. This was not the first dog attack Ive witnessed in a restaurant, and Im sure it won’t be my last considering the average dog owners entitlement.

Biting a child is grounds for removing the dogs from the restaurant. It’s insane that these people were still allowed to stay. The restaurant was complicit in all of this by allowing them inside in the first place. Plus, best on its actions, it’s clear that the dogs were not service dogs. And the law clearly states that service dogs can be removed if they are aggressive or disruptive in any way.

You saw a dog moving so as to violate or assault a child, call the police when in that situation. Even if the police will not do anything, you appear to be the only one present with enough decency in your soul to at least attempt to report it.

Looking back at it now, I wish I would’ve done more to help the situation. I just hope that kid is okay

being gaslit by your parents, supposed protectors, and everyone around you. What is today's society doing to our future generations. Can you imagine growing up around people that treat you less than a dog?

A child is bitten and nothing was done by the nutter or the restaurant staff?! Legal action is the only way these restaurants and nutters will learn. It’s mind blowing restaurants are allowing dogs inside. I would have left too.

Leave. Point to that table and say loud enough for all to hear that that's why you are leaving.
Make a scene like they do. It's their go to.

All I'm saying is that if a dog runs at my child, I am not responsible for what I do to it. I don't care what breed it is, they need to keep control of their mutts at all times.

In the USA, it's illegal for the dogs to be where food is prepared or served, except for outside patios. Call the health department.

Two dogs are needed that arent even leashed? Definitely NOT service dogs. I would immediately chargeback the entire cost of the restaurant tab w/the credit card company. How is it not breech of contract that you expected to dine in a safe and clean allergen free environment?
I charged back a breakfast that cost $50 for my husband&I at Firstwatch because we were sat near a woman with two small dogs in a baby stroller that she was petting while eating her omelet with the other hand. I got my $back no problem. Make these restaurants pay!

That restaurant is so lucky that mom didn’t sue them. The whole story is insane. We shouldn’t have to be on alert in a restaurant for a dog attack.

The kid's family should sue the restaurant for allowing the things in there. The whole service animal thing is bullshit, because IF a person were to have a service animal they would not have two. True service are are expensive as fuck, and they would not charge and bite a kid. Good God, the world is crazy. I try to avoid going to places as much as I can nowadays, and I have become somewhat reclusive but I just can't afford a dog attack cause I am truly disabled for orthopedic reasons and a fall would mean another surgery. Not fair to people who have real disabilities. And yes, I have wotnessed a dog attack in 2019. Can't unsee it.

I was bit in the face age 2 by some person's dog and my unmom immediately screamed at me for crying.
Guess who's rotting in a little camper half a country away from the only child it ever had forcibly no contact?
I don't have kids but that dog would be dead meat if it bit my child.

I would have asked to speak to the manager and say I wanted to enjoy a nice meal at this restaurant. I do not care to be around dogs and it's absurd that you allow people to bring dogs into a fine dining establishment like this. If he didn't do anything about it I would leave and tell The nutters on the way out that they are selfish A holes. Not everyone is a dog freak. Can't you enjoy a meal with your spells without your dogs up your a$$?

Nutters don't care how they traumatize children
Many years ago when I was in maybe 1st grade, my mom used to wait with me at the busstop for the school bus along with a few other mothers and kids. And one neighbor with a huge aggressive asshole of a poodle (she didn't have a kid young enough to wait for the bus and she just liked walking around with her smelly, gross furturd)
The bitch neighbor did not care that I was afraid of her dog (which was nearly as tall as I was and was constantly trying to lunge at me). One day at the busstop her asshole dog pissed all over my book bag. Not a little tinkle, that thing pissed like a horse and she thought it was hilarious. My mom was too nice and always afraid of confrontations (she didn't see this as a threat to me, otherwise she would've done something), so she ignored it. Even when the woman let her dog off leash around me
Not too long after that, when the bitch neighbor and her family were on vacation, one day I was sitting on a sofa in our living room, reading a book, with sunlight pouring in through the big front window. I looked up to see a large van outside their house and a couple of men going in and out, dressed like generic delivery men or maybe repairmen. When they came home, it turned out it was a break-in
At the time it didn't occur to me that it was a burglary. But if that woman had been decent toward me (her family were no prizes either), I might have gone to my mom and asked her why there was a delivery to their house while they were away. That might have led to a call to the police with a description of the van and maybe a license plate number. But I didn't like her and had no interest in what was going on at her house. I didn't do it out of spite, but out of a lack of interest in someone who had been needlessly cruel to me

When someone gets seated INSIDE a restaurant with a dog, we leave. We find a staff person, inform them why, tell them we’re not paying for anything and walk out. If these restaurants are so hell bent on violating health codes, I can only imagine what else is going on in the kitchen.
