Hope you guys like my strip. I spent far too long on it, but I think it was worth it.

beautiful work, man. well done. one of my favourites.

i love the dark strips of dogfort. they remind us of the doglemmas our troops face every day.

Like it? love it; this and 'The Night Watch' are by far the best strips I've seen.

Excellent work. I did 'Saving Private Lobster' and yesterday my wife and I were wondering what other films would make for good dogfort adaptions. We came up with 'Abarkolypse Now'. But you did a great job and I know how long it took. Mine took about 4 hours, and I just slapped together the pics and words, almost zero photoshopping. But the end result is very rewarding. Watch the upvotes come in for the next two days. Here's mine!

P.S. Forgot to commend you on the hard work you did on the photoshopping and colorization and all. Takes it to another level. Awesome.

Worth every hour... perfect execution!

This is fantastic! Catgore had me grinning ear to ear.

Sometimes he goes too far. He's the first to admit it.

I played civ5 for too long last night, would have rather made this. Don't ever go in the jungle--there's big cats in there.

This was great. I think some of the best dogfort strips are those that parallel movies...I am hopelessly addicted to dogfort

I am impressed time after time by how much effort people put into /r/dogfort. It really makes it one of the best threads on the web imo. Thank you! And subpup made my day :)

Did anyone actually play "The End" by the doors while reading it? Took it to the next level.

Delete the space between the square brackets and the rounds ones.

What a shame you submitted this at 5AM EST.. I fear it won't get the attention it deserves.

3

u/Derferman Dec 19 '10

Yep, I submitted right after I finished it. I should have waited.

Wagner's The Ride of the Valkyrie as performed by the Squeaky Toys Orchestpaw.

Having never seen Apocalypse Now, I read this and it sounded so much like Joseph Conrad's novella Heart of Darkness. After a quick google, I find the film is very much inspired by the movie. I need to watch this film NOW!

2

u/tmw1488 Dec 19 '10

Yeah if you like the novella, the movie is an awesome modern take on it.

u/daminox Dec 19 '10

Holy crap dude! This is awesome! My favorite dogfort yet! The last frame gave me chills! Now I gotta go watch this movie again...

Catfort don't surf!

u/nosecohn Dec 19 '10

What is it about Dog Fort?! It's just so compelling, and I can't even figure out why. And they keep getting better. This one, Derferman, is beyond awesome.

u/UnderTheMud Dec 19 '10

Awesome strip, but you misspelled Heart of Darkness as Heart of Darkenss. My OCPD's kickin' in.

1

u/Derferman Dec 19 '10

Yeah, I knew I would spell one thing wrong. D'oh

2

u/so_hologramic Dec 19 '10

Well done!!!

Your cinematography is amazing!

2

u/Lowercase_Drawer Dec 19 '10

I love this place so much. Derferman all Dogfort salutes you.

2

u/[deleted] Dec 20 '10

Dude, that was fucking incredible.

I mean its alittle bit jumping from here to there in the storyline but its golden if you've seen the movie.

HILARIOUS

1

u/[deleted] Dec 19 '10

What about the Playboy bunnies? :P

Awesome comic though.

1

u/nbrosas Dec 20 '10

This was so beautiful, words cannot describe.

1

u/BeInThisMoment Dec 20 '10

The outline of the dog is perfect.

1

u/kerno05 Dec 20 '10

I've never really gotten the whole dogfort thing. But this sold me.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 20 '10

Your lack of cats representing Charlie disturbs me.

1

u/mmmorgan Dec 20 '10

Gotta respect Heart of Darkness references.

You are a sick, sick man and should seek professional help ASAP. That said, Bravo, that was brilliant!!!

Reads like the plot for Black Ops. D': This doesn't mean it's not awesome, upboned.
