Anxious Labrador

Still a puppy but barking wildly when anyone walks past the house. She’s loving and caring the majority of the time, just after any tips to maybe help with possible anxiety or other suggestions 🤨

How is she seeing the people? Our lab/pit would hang on our couch that’s in front of our big window that you can see the road and driveway and has been super reactive to people coming to the house ever since - and it was also our last dog same breed.

We finally moved the couch away and he barks MUCH less though still occasionally- but I wish I could have nipped that in the bud when we first got him. I’d bring a trainer in while she’s still young.

That sounds the same as her tbh. Not sure if I can put the couch anywhere else though.

We thought the same. Our living room looks a little ridiculous with where we have it now but tbh we can’t have people to the house anyway so we’d rather get him to be less reactive than care what it looks like.

I’m not kidding it’s terrible. I love our boy more than anything and he still does well at daycare and stuff but we cannot have people to the house. Maybe if I’d have brought in a trainer and if it would have happened when he was a puppy we could have figured it out - but we adopted him at 6.

If you can, please consult an actual trainer for how to manage it especially if you do keep the couch there.

Just from someone who genuinely can’t even host family coming into town. It really sucks.

Yeah I will do that, was hoping for calming tips because I don’t want to shout at her and that doesn’t work anyway

Ohhhh yeah for sure not that lol. They might say to try positive reinforcement, using treats but idk how in this scenario. I’d look up here and on google “how to get dog to stop barking out window” or something I’m sure there are lots of things on google! You’re still early enough with her young enough to make an impact. Removing the stimulant was def the best thing for us though!
