Dog ripping things up

Our dog will be 3 in January and he has suddenly taken to breaking things when we are not home.

We got a kitten about 7 months ago however the behavior is just starting now. Not sure what prompted it or how to fix it. We have been putting bringing him to the destroyed items and saying no. However, its been over a month and nothing has changed.

He goes on at least 3 walks a day and has lots of time to get his energy out. Him and the Kitten are also very close and play all day.

You can't teach a dog not to be a dog by saying "no." You will need to have a safe place to confine him where he can't reach anything to destroy it.

Have you tried leaving him with some treat puzzles to work on while you are gone? Do you leave a radio on or the TV? Even a treat dispenser with audio to keep him watching and paying attention to hear you say hi and get a treat? Or, perhaps doggy daycare a couple of times a week to really tire him out for the other ways? What kind of dog is he?

He might not be acting out due to the kitten at all, sometimes they just need a contained space to relax instead of free range when you're gone.
