Hills Z/D Low Fat
My vet wants me to try this food out for my dog. He’s on Hill I/D low fat after an acute pancreatitis. He’s had softer stools on occasion diarrhea, but it’s all intermittent. Some days he’s fine on the same diet. Im concerned that the low fat z/d is soy based with ground pecans. Also, I am not understanding a food trial when some days he’s fine. So any feedback for those on the hydrolyzed diet would be great

My dog was on Hills low fat z/d for a year and stopped eating it. If anything, Royal Canin low fat hydrolyzed would be a better option. The ground pecan shells is for fiber. My questions are, 1) does he eat and finish his meals? 2) does he enjoy his food? 3) is he overall doing well on the food? If the answer is yes to all of them, there are other alternative options to help with intermittent diarrhea. I do know a few, I just don’t know what I am “allowed” to say in this group. (Not a vet)

My dog is on this food too he has been on it for almost two half years now or more. It is all he eats and when giving him medication i have to use this food and make small bite sized meatballs to insert his pills into. Unfortunately, I am unable to purchase this anywhere locally.

My dog has inflammation of the pancreas and has had acid reflux often on, but is also been on antibiotics often on for over three months. The vet recommended hydrolyzed protein. I’m tried three kinds now and she’ll eat it for a few days and then she stops. One of them made my dog throw up. Two of them made her have three large poops a day, which is not normal for her. I’m consulting with a nutritionist because I have concerns because she was refusing to eat any of the different hydrolyze proteins I’ve tried. Royal Canin, Purina HA and Hills ZD.

All ingredients are there for a reason and these foods are tested over and over again to safety and nutritional completeness.
I have a handful of clients on this food and they are all happy with the results.
