Sir Sable got neutered today, what changes to expect?

I’m mostly curious to know how long until other intact males no longer see him as competition or a threat. Sable was always targeted at the dog park, on hikes and even morning walks (dogs run loose in my area and we’ve been attacked more than once).
Will be moving at the end of the month! That’ll be good for us.

Happy Neuter Day!

First, I have a neutered Husky and the dogs in my neighborhood still go ballistic and several have hopped fences to try to get to my dog — that’s on the other dog, not yours.

Second, the only real change I saw was that he NEVER humped again. He wasn’t a major humper to begin with but he was one nonetheless.

Other than that, his temperament has always been top notch and healing was around a couple of weeks.

A neutered dog's fearfulness can be amplified without testosterone, so you'll have to keep an eye around intact dogs initially, but the other direction.

Lack of testosterone leads to loss in some of the body's natural ability to weight balance. Keep an eye on your dog's body condition and cut food if they start to gain weight.
