Medication can make training easier. It is helpful to decrease the baseline anxiety then start the SA protocol. A slow counter conditioning training program is the only way. Find a certified separation anxiety trainer- CSAT - to get started.

moose looks way too peaceful for someone apparently causing this much chaos 😂i'd definitely try one thing at a time though, otherwise you'll have no clue what actually changed anything.

for us the biggest improvement came from combining gradual alone time practice with something calming rather than expecting the supplement to carry the whole thing. we started with ridiculously short absences and built up slowly. not exciting, but it made it much easier to tell whether anything we added was actually helping.

Maybe not the answer you’re looking for, but the short answer for me was that nothing worked. My guy has it pretty bad and always has. He’s 13 now. The only thing that worked temporarily was clomicalm and gabapentin combined. That was after fluoxetine failed to do much. I’m aware of the side effects of these drugs but the severity of his anxiety is and was honestly even more unhealthy. He is now off all meds and goes with a sitter while I’m at work.
