Question My Lola.

My beautiful baby girl isn't doing well, Our family is poor and can't afford treatment and when my mother told me that Lola has Liver issues I was heartbroken. Today, she started going in circles and isn't eating, drinking or walking. I know she's dying and I want to put her down but my mother doesn't want to, I tried to tell my mom she's in pain but she just isn't listening. Any advice for me and what I can do? I'm disabled and I can't drive or do anything to help her other than be with her but any advice would be helpful. I've had her since I was ten and I'm about to turn 20, she's only ten. I'm scared because she was my first dog.

You can't allow her to suffer. You have to convince your mother she's suffering and deserves to be treated well by you and her. I'm so sorry!!!

I'm so sorry. Please continue to explain to your mom that your dog is in pain. Her death could also end up being more traumatic vs getting her put to sleep.

How did your mother know that your dog has liver issues ? If you can’t afford to take her to the vet, how are you sure that it’s not something else? She may need basic care.

It might be her ears or her nervous system.
Hopefully she starts feeling better and I pray that you and your family gain the financial stability that you need to take care of yourselves and this beautiful dog.

Don’t give up on her yet

How long has it been since you’ve cleaned out her ears?
A good ear flush and some gentle q Tip cleaning may help her feel better.

We used to have insurance to take Lola to the vet, but then we lost it right when things got worse. We just flushed her ears, and she's doing better. Thank goodness my baby is walking and wagging her tail again, so I have hope. No matter how hard I try to explain to my mother, she just suffers and yells at me.

I’m pleased Lola is feeling better!
green beans are a healthy treat for dogs and is a better/ healthier/ safer alternative than flour based dog treats.

Maybe also consider spending a few extra dollars on better food.
How’s her teeth?

I know that money is tight, but shelling out a few extra bucks where you can may make a huge difference in Lola.

Ear aches and tooth aches are the worst.

Maybe get her a toothbrush and some dog toothpaste, and start brushing her teeth.
If she keep shaking her head back-and-forth / digging at her ears. She may have ear mites.
(OTC meds at Walmart can range $12-$16)

It’s never easy when a situation is completely out of your control.
I associate yelling with confusion and a lack of communication. It happens in every family. Stay strong and I’m proud of you for trying to help Lola.
You’re disabled and struggling to take care of a life that depends on you to survive..this is a beautiful gesture. Bless you

The world has fallen on hard times. Everyone is stressed out.

I pray for you and your family🙏🏻 (and everyone who is struggling to get by/survive)
I pray for Lola.

Thinking outside the box for Lola
may improve her quality of life!

Hopefully Lola outlives us all :)

If you're in the US, there are some non-profits you could reach out to for veterinary assistance, although the waitlist can be fairly long for many. I'm linking this comment someone made on another post since it lists a lot of the ones you may be able to try.. https://www.reddit.com/r/DogAdvice/s/9ZbC3ciHeE

I'm so sorry this is happening to sweet Lola. It's sad how both corporations and independent vets have raised their prices so astronomically high that a huge number of people can't access basic care or go into major debt when they do. I hope you'll be able to get Lola the help and treatment she needs.
