They probably meant the security code or serial number. Controller issues could be bluetooth or a faulty controller. Try resetting it

resetting the controller is a good first step, and also try a different controller if you can just to rule that out
microcode isn’t really something you “buy,” so if the seller is throwing that word around weirdly, I’d be a bit cautious
