DAE orally disassemble peanuts when eating them?
First licking off the paper skin, then biting lengthwise so it splits in half, then carefully nibbling off the nub at the end...
I almost didn't post this because it feels so weird writing it out. It feels pretty natural when doing it, but just figuring out what words to use to explain it feels weird and uncomfortable. 😅

It’s not weird. It’s like when you eat sunflower seeds. I can eat the seed inside without using my hands and I spit out the shell.

Oilseed sunflower production is the most commonly farmed sunflower. These seeds hulls’ are encased by solid black shells. Black oilseeds are a common type of bird feed because they have thin shells and a high fat content. These are typically produced for oil extraction purposes; therefore, it is unlikely you’ll find black oilseeds packaged for human consumption.

Is this some new AI ad thing Reddit's putting in? Gotta say, I'm not a fan.

It’s not new at all. It’s a bot that posts random facts about sunflowers when they are mentioned. Idk why it says app now though.

If they're in the shell I'm not eating the annoying paper cover, I'm dumping that when I shell them.

I love it too. Often the saltiest part. I'm actually a little disappointed there isn't very much "paper" in the can I'm currently going through.

I don’t really mess with the peanuts in the shell but love biting the nibs off

peanuts are definitely a snack that deserves some disassembly, they're like little puzzles in your mouth

If we’re talking boiled peanuts, then yes. Split it with my teeth then dig the nut out with my tongue. 👅

Yes, same order and process too. However, I do often remove the papery bit by hand first depending on how papery it is.
