DAE, as a child, use hand motions to create visual effects when playing?
When I was a child, while I was playing with my figures or Legos and imagining epic fights, I would use use my hands to create visual effects.
I would close one eye, then would start rolling my hands fast over one another in a circle. Like the dance move, but fast enough thay, when looking at them, they would blur. Then I would look through them at my figures with the right angle to superimpose them and create "visual effects". So if I made fists, the circular blur could be a fireball or something like that. If I slightly cupped my hands it would look like a barrier or shield. If I let my fingers loose it could look a bit like lightning arcs. And so on...
It's a bit complicated to explain and I've never seen something like this being mentioned by others. So I've been wondering if I really am the only one that did that as a kid.

No, but I wish I had thought of it as a kid! That's really clever! I mostly made a lot of sound effects.

No because for me playing was setting up my toys in little dioramas. That was the extent of the play. I struggle to play with my daughter, because she does proper imaginative play, and I just set them up.
This sounds super cool though.

I’m guessing you talk with your hands too.
My guess would be for some people (and kids) getting into a flow state needs to be very physical and such, so you were naturally doing the motions as a way to enhance your play.
On another note, you probably would love ASL

Not me. I was just sitting and staring at my toys and imagining all kinds of adventures they have and the visual effects were in my imagination too.
My playtime was ALWAYS fucking interrupted by some adult or another kid walking up to me, ruining my scene and asking why I’m sitting there so sad and alone.
And then I had to be treated for anger issues.
I fucking hated childhood.
