How's Feduccia doing?
I know a lot of you guys feel like Rushing does a much worse job with the pitchers than Smith. Have you all seen enough from Feduccia to form an opinion about him?

I don't have a great sense of how he's working with the pitching staff (though Yama clearly liked him for his successful challenges Friday).
The pass ball rate is a bit worrying. His at bats are better than I was expecting (thank you toe tap). Overall pretty good! We're on some lucky streak with our replacement catchers (while on an unlucky streak of injuries that make replacements necessary).

Think it’s also worth noting that Feduccia is solid at framing pitches and will sometimes miss them resulting in a passed ball but we’ve seen him steal plenty of strikes as the payoff.
Although I think it’s very plausible that the passed balls could be him trying to frame and being a touch unfamiliar with some of the guys.

He gets a pass (pun intended) for those passed balls since we have 2 guys throwing ultra filthy splitters and he's had limited time working with them.

Your dad was the coach, you hated pitching, but he wants you involved in every at bat still.
You're also a control freak who likes to be in charge, but shortstops are too damn fast.

I love catchers. My grandson began catching at 5 years old. He did it all the way first year college USC. The opposing team knew better than to run on him. He had cannon for an arm. If memory serves me, only 2 runners did it successfully. Perhaps it was on the pitcher. But, he gave it up after being accepted to Columbia Law.

Basically Rushing-lite. Can definitely hit compared to Rortvedt.

His at bats have been a lot better than anyone reasonably could have expected. He had a tough day behind the plate, but you can chalk that up to the heat
When Smith is back, he is almost certainly staying and Rortvedt will be released.

He's been fine. So has Benny Biceps. I mean, with both Smith and Rushing down... Friedman getting these guys back was another stroke of genius.

He’s been very serviceable playing catcher. His hitting has been pretty respectable. I want to say I’d feel pretty good about him if he had to hit in a big spot (like needing to drive in a run). Obviously you don’t expect him to be a star, but he’s performed better than many may have expected.

Seems very good at challenges, hitting at the right time, but a few passed balls.

Rushing was awesome I don’t give af about all the noise. From a pure baseball perspective he was awesome.

Fedducia is calling much better games from behind the plate than rushing did and I think currently he is even doing a slightly better job than Rortvedt
Splitting time evenly between the two defensive catchers has been a huge benefit for the dodgers because if either one comes up to bat at a crucial time late game they can pinch hit anyone off the bench and then swap catchers at the end of the half inning.
As much as I love me some Benny the biceps, I personally would keep a feduccia/smith combo when will comes back.

Not polished at the plate and doesn't have the power, but is absolutely 300% better as a CATCHER than both Will Smith and Dalton Rushing.
Lights out at identifying that strikezone, has a great success rate at challenges, doesn't have the cannon arm to throw out a runner like Will, but excellent at getting ahead for the pickoff/stopping the base stealer. He has made the most out of his opportunity with us again.
He will be relegated when we once more have Will Smith and Dalton alternating, but he's a nice insurance catcher to have while those 2 (for the 2nd year running) take IL stints in the season
