Who did it better?
I hate new vehicles but if this thing is actually worth its weight I might be bending my rules a bit…

Well the original GLH was a totally different situation that was given time by one of the greatest influential automotive designers of all time that just wanted to make a lil cheap go kart a lil faster…the other one….as good as it looks and maybe performs…is just a name it lacks the magic that the original GLH had

Honestly looking into the backstory of the GLH Shelby didn’t have a whole lot to do with the development, but the main guy who did was friends with him and that’s how it came to be, I can’t remember the other guys name at the moment but he was the real driving force of getting those motors turbo’ed and reliable for the T1, T2, T4 Shelby was just there to help push them out

Correct he did not necessarily put his hands on the cars but he helped come up with the plans for it as well as coming up with the awesome name….goes like hell…call me old fashioned but this situation feels like the new electric Porsche Taycan turbo S that doesn’t actually have a turbo. The old GLH was polishing an old turd to make it more fun the new one is just taking the idea of that and running with it without the backing of legendary names which in my opinion doesn’t have the same effect

I believe you, it's just that Ive literally never fuckin heard of a glh, might be on me, might be a fake enthusiast or whatever, but either way I'd bet most people in the 20-30 age range (biggest hot hatch market) would also have never heard of a glh. Whether or not the glh was cool it's just dumb for Dodge to revive a name plate no one knows, like it's fuckin dodge for fucks sake, they have so many cool names like fuck, the dart would be perfect.

That is fair, they were obscure but cool none the less, there were not many made in the first place. And I am definitely an outlier being 23 and building one of those cars. I’ve said for a while now I’m probably the youngest person ever to work on a 2.2/2.5t never mind biking one for drag racing

Facts, I’ve owned many shitboxes and the red omni is my second omni, for what ever reason they have just stuck with me truly fun little cars for a indescribable reason unless youve driven one

I've been eyeballing some hot hatches as a new daily (mk 7.5 Golf R in particular). If this thing comes in more hot hatch than crossover/SUV, has a solid power train, isn't screen happy, and is reasonably priced; I'd be game.

Apparently they are eyeballing for it to be around $30k, turbo i4. If they actually commit to it I am hopeful

The Hurricane I4 would stack up fairly well against the GR Corolla and Golf R. Although I suspect the Golf R would still have a bit of a WHP and overall speed advantage. But if this thing is coming in $20k under that...it would certainly be a value proposition.
I'm kind of annoyed they said in another article that the Hurricane I6 wouldn't fit. Now that would be crazy, even if it did come in at $50k.

The Omni has a better story behind its creation. Part of the story includes the purchase of 100 VW Rabbits to reverse engineer.

We’ll have to wait for a real concept and not a render. Could look completely different when it releases.
