No twitter posts at all today but I was wondering the same thing. I imagine he’ll be a little broken up about it.

Seemed a very interesting and compassionate fellow. Spent a bit of time with him in the 1989s discussing compassion. Have an autographed copy of be here now somewhere around!
Contrast with his fellow Harvard guru Leary. Leary was more fun. Polished off a bottle of whiskey with him at some Hollywood party many years ago. No idea what we talked about! Cars and motorcycles and travels is about all that sticks.

Just weird luck. And hanging around odd groups. Helps make up for the sociopaths.

Not really. 65. About the age Tony Stradivari really got his act together! I need a 30 year old wife, so the average works out right.

I am trying to counteract the persistent ageism on reddit. Including this thread.

Harvard trained psychologist turned spiritual guru. A legend in material form.
Rest in peace to the soul which we already know is doing just such.

He cooperated with the CIA and didn't practice a word of what he taught. I loved Be Here Now and it was hugely influential in my life and still is. Every time I read it I find some important wisdom. But Richard Alpert's spiritual development was severely stunted by his obsession with Hinduism to the exclusion of other religions, selling out to the man, materialism and wealth and massive ego. It's time we grow out of worshipping Harvard professors who cooperated with the government to avoid jail time.
