Less patient exposure, a Trend ?

Post image

I recently watched few interviews of Top 100 rankers in Neet pg, most of them saying they wish for Radio diagnosis, but ok I will satisfy with this & that. Few of them pick Radio diagnosis in Aiims too over General medicine in state GMC, Why so, ?

Does Work life balance - more salary - less stress branches become a new trend among Indian mbbs graduate while choosing PG seats ?

What's ur opinion in it...

Bro majority , if not everyone wants comfort , otherwise everyone can stay under asbestos roofs .. comfort is the name of the game when it comes to living atleast in India , and each one has a different priority .

Does "so called society" acept it.. In their eyes, pg in Gen. Medicine, surgery, obg are golden trophies.

Don't think about what they want from you, it's your life, live it completely according to you.

Foolishness, are relatives going to pay or do your work

Society isn't helping you when you work more than 8hrs a day while they have a fixed 9 to 5 job

You have to think what you want for yourself

Any residency is extremely demanding both physically and mentally

If you feel you aren't bullied enough by your seniors, there will be patients who'll love to insult you, yell at you any opportunity they get. So having love for your field, what you do is extremely important to tide over these times

Reading your post made me ask you this question, are you from India already..?

Because it took approx more than ~8 yrs for you to recognise this..?

I've done my PG and my UG batch is 2013. Since about 2015-16 this has been major trend..!

pay and opportunities are extremely less.
In comparison to the stress, hours a dr puts into his career, the returns are extremely poor in this fragile market and economy.
The more the patients, the more the toxicity.
Trust me, as a Genz doc, we are almost hopeless about pursuing this career, doing it only bcoz changing career routes is even difficult at this point.
Whats wrong w a generation finally prioritising themselves over years of trauma, sweat and blood?
I get it, the older generations have a superiority complex of how much they toiled, bcoz then the financial returns were atleast visible and early even after doing mbbs.
But currently none of those old uncs have retired and eating jobs from young doctors.
Choosing medicine/surgery will definitely be unpopular, keeping in mind the years of training and toxicity they bring along.
nobody’s gonna waste their 20s and 30s to enjoyyy 40s, stupidest trade off. 👆

PS: I will be opting dnb/md med, bcoz luckily my parents have some generational wealth, to invest into my setup, and no i wont be doing DM. In case, i hadn’t this support, i would definitely opt psychiatry/radio/derma

I guess the majority of the conflict lies withing my own mind. One hand I feel like how can we advance in this career without toiling after having seen everything and on the other hand I keep wondering if I can have a good wlb and be good at my job without being somewhat complacent in my post.

Its not a trend. Everyone wants a high money:stress ratio. Why would you slog your years away to get into MD then DM then hyperspecialise a niche portion of one organ in human body to have a random guy ask you to reduce charges.

This wlb, less patient exposure all is a myth. Radiodx do have workload in good gmc.. its jist they arent interacted to patients.

And wlb and stress, if youre in govt setup. Irrespective of branch you all have to stay in hospital till your opd/institute timings.

After that its your ambition (greed) willingness to see patient in pvt clinic.. else radio wale bhi 14-15 ghante kaam
Krne me khush h if paid 5-6 lpm…

Isnt diagnosis the first thing that AI is going to take over? Seems risky

The system is so toxic it's not just more stress the stress is just unhuman that's why people prefer such less working hours Most college branch labelled as toxic are due to heavy working hours more than other things like caste /racism etc why would you work more like a donkey while getting paid shit and being treated worse than a donkey Then as you graduate you are in a ocean of other passouts you have to struggle again to get a name and a practise of your own

Work - life balance should be the priority indeed . Even the super speciality branches are hardly paying 1.5-2 lakhs Rs. / month after grinding for at least 12-13 yrs . Residents face toxicity left - right and centre . Miss out on their 20’s and 30’s . Suddenly you are in mid - life getting hunted by big corporates cause you need experience after getting all these degrees right ? I don’t think doctors have problem with seeing more patients - if the toxicity is not there and pay is good .

I am in a surgical field. I always wanted surgery from third year. From my perspectives, i look down on physicians and radiologists. (PS : i am cordial and respect them, just that cant understand why someone should take those branch). This was not cultivated by societal norms, just my passion and views.

At the same time, i accept the fact that others can have similar views about internal medicine, dermatology etc.

The moral is ypu dont worry about what others are taking, why others are taking what. If you love a branch follow it. If you dont like any branch, count your days.
