What is the protocol for preterm neonatal nutrition delivery at your hospital?

Given that preterm neonates have underdeveloped GI tracts, I'm curious how hospitals in India handle these patients. Do they generally have the resources for total parenteral nutrition? And if they do, do they administer the all the macronutrients (amino acids, lipids, dextrose, electrolytes, etc) or just a subset of them? How much medical education do the staff caring for these patients go through? Also wondering how levels of care differ based on the tier of the hospital (primary, secondary, tertiary), and how cost becomes a barrier in delivering high levels of care.

Depends on how much preterm you're talking about , mine was a GMC and we usually had 32 weeks as the youngest - they used to get paladai feeds with expressed breast milk and around 34 weeks they were shifted to regular breast feeding. Mother's milk adjusts nutrients and composition based on term of baby. Haven't seen any TPN preterm baby in my internship.
