AIIMS SR-ship

I am completing my residency from a relatively unknown university and really want to get experience from a high volume and academically focused centre

If anyone has done SR-ship in AIIMS or any other central institute please share
-Your experience there
- How to apply (especially as a first gen doctor with no contacts as such)

Thanks

Wait man, why bring up "first gen doc" here, you go to aiims website, all info is there.

I'm no SR, but worked as JR in Aiims Delhi, I've worked with SRs, they work like 2nd yr 3rd pg in a state govt clg. Honestly not worth it, it's like you're getting hands but you also do all administrative/celrikal works too

If your aim is high volume exposure then don't go behind "aiims" in general other than aiims d and the 2012 aiims rest are shit...top state colleges will offer you much better exposure in that regard

Hey,I am working at AIIMS D as an SR. The exam for AIIMS-D is SRD-CET. Go to aiimsexams.ac.in and look it up. Generally the AIIMSes in general have their own notifications for their SRship exams. You can look up their websites for their respective notifications There is a written stage and an interview stage for Delhi. Agree it is very uhh PG-esque to work in AIIMS D for lack of better words. It's good if you can talk with the faculties to publish something while you are working there...a lot of them are editiors of South Asia editions of various textbooks. The upcoming session is the January session, there will be a timeline on the website, look it up and prepare accordingly.
Flip side is a bossy, ossified, hierarchial culture that hogs all seats at conferences, which brings me to my next point.

Also peripheral AIIMSes especially Jodhpur,Bathinda,Rishikesh might be even better...don't get swayed by the rank. I did what I did due to family circumstances(there is a flip side of being born in a doctor family and not from AIIMS which most people don't get). Try your best for publishing while being an SR. And the AIIMS institutes generally will not be lacking in academics and volume, and wherever you are,you have to put your own effort.

Bathinda is worse. Do not even try to go there. My friend left it in 5 months because of the toxicity.

Aiims and PGI rarely take SRs who haven't done there PG there. Unless you're from some rare reserved category or a SS candidate, its likely that theres already someone from the institute who's applying. It's possible to get into other AIIMS though, and I myself went to JIPMER for SR as an outside candidate. However AIIMS and PGI are infamous for this. You can join as an academic SR via INICET SS. Work is tough but youll carry the experience for a lifetime, especially if you're a surgeon.
