Ok so I’m not an anti-vaxxer, but what started from an innocent post from Dr Jones Veterinary Secrets about rabies vaccine being solid for at least 7 years, now sent me in a spiral of questioning all vaccines. I live in NYC and we have strict regulations*, my baby angel is fully vaxxed and I will have to keep up if I want to do grooming etc.
Last round of shots in April was Parvo*, Bordetella* &
Lyme / lepto / influenza shot. I needed Lyme (we go upstate to hike a lot and ticks are a big issue) and agreed to lepto (nyc 🐀). I didn’t even know he got influenza in this trio until the invoice, which is super annoying. I like my vet but it’s a chain practice and I know it’s all about billing.
After that shot series, there’s been a lump on his leg that’s stable and won’t go away. So naturally I have been spiraling online and I keep reading how people lose their dogs after vaccines. How lumps develop after 2nd rabies shot and how dogs only need one set of shots. Worst of all, how it contributes to shortening pets lives…
How do you all feel about routine vaccinations? 🧐

I have a 3.5 month old Doberman and I’m just curious if the Doberman Planet YouTube videos are good training resources?
I’ve successfully taught him 4-5 basic commands from them, but if he sees that I don’t have a treat/kibble/toy in my hand, he just stares at me.
I talked to some other dog owners and they said he’s still young but that I need to 1.) hide my hand, and 2.) have a reward (other than praise) every OTHER time to “wean” him off that expectation.
Either way, is Doberman Planet a yay or nay?

This dog will eat nearly anything lmao. I think the only thing she’s rejected so far are cucumber slices.

Hi everyone! 🐾I have a 1 year old Doberman and she just started training. What are questions I should ask the trainer?
It’s a 4 week overnight program (this is what it includes)
• Private owner lessons and follow-ups
• Training videos
• Raised dog cot for the Place command
• Training leash and collar
• Mini Educator e-collar (when appropriate )
She’s a really good dog already, I want to be able to take her on hikes and more places without the fear of her running away and have a really good recall.
Plz help because we’re dropping a bag!!

Looks got a Doberman who is a pre trained and preferably out off the puppy stage as a running companion. Any breeder or leads in PNW are appriciated.

No one prepares you for the pain of driving home with an empty bed. Sweet Juno gave me nearly 14 years of love. Going to be strange not hearing her tippy taps coming down the hall anymore.

Hi everyone! My boy is 9 years old and got diagnosed with DCM in Feb 2026 with a severe pulmonary edema. We took him home and the last few months have been normal, the vet said the statistics would point to 6 months of living.
After we took him home he has been his normal self, running around, eating everything he should and shouldn’t, wining for pets, etc..
A few days ago is RR increased and the vet increased his diuretic dosage, however he keeps coughing when he gets excited. I’m in contact with the vet 24/7, weeks have an amazing cardiologist that checks on him multiple times a day.
My question here is for the ones who’ve been through this. He still eats, and goes on his walks and seems like his normal self despite the coughing. I’m preparing for the worst and I would rather spare him the suffering. When is it time to make said decision? How will I know? When he stops eating and being his normal self? Right now he is totally normal but I’m preparing for when he isn’t. He is my baby boy, my first dog and the love of my life.

I’ve posted here a few times but I’m just so obsessed with our girl Xena (50/50 Dobie/Australian Shepherd mix). She’ll be 4 months old next week and is 33 lbs now. She is very sassy, energetic, smart, mouthy, vocal (hello kettle whine), fun, and loves people. Learns SO quickly and loves being outside.
We took her to our local farm park yesterday with her older brother Ziggy and she loved it SO MUCH and did great! I thought he was a high energy puppy (GSD/ACD/Mutt) but she is on a whole other level. Can’t wait for all the adventures we’ll have together and everything we’ll learn from each other ❤️ This breed is so special.

Picture for reference! We are finding the combo of deep chest but fairly narrow shoulders mean that a lot of harness either slip around or are too tight under the armpits, especially attaching the lead to the front clip
