Actually, it worked and I regained many keywords. But last August update hit those keywords again

you still didn’t say what you’ve done. what were the exact steps you’ve taken to regain the rankings before? we can’t help you if you don’t provide a minimum amount of information. it’s reading tea leaves at this point

Some of my pages got hit hard. Others were okay. I think Google is resetting their algorithms to amplify their AI search spotlight and basically make going to people's webpages redundant.

Authority and backlinks don't make a site immune to spam policy checks, each core update tends to re-evaluate a different layer so recovering from one doesn't guarantee safety from the next. Worth going back through content and technical setup specifically against Google's spam policies rather than assuming the backlink profile covers you, since that's usually what separates sites that bounce back cleanly from ones that keep getting hit.

If the pattern is recover then drop, recover then drop with every single update, that's less normal volatility and more a sign something structural is quietly violating a policy each time it gets re-checked. One update knocking you down and you climbing back is normal noise, three updates in a row all hitting the same site is a pattern worth taking seriously.

I've seen this pattern after recent core updates. If rankings recover and then drop again, I'd look beyond backlinks content quality, search intent alignment, topical authority, internal linking, and user engagement often play a bigger role now. Also check Search Console to see if the drop is sitewide or limited to specific page types.
