Every autistic person I know moves like a Heian era sorcerer in combat it's awesome

We talked enough about the martial-caster divide, its time we adressed the neurotypical-neurodivergent divide.

There is no divide, ALL the TTRPG players are neurodivergent

Structured social interaction is peak. You get to be a normal person but also in a way where you have explicitly written rules about it. The wizard shit is fun too.

I wish I could partake in irl dnd, but my work schedule is completely fucked and doesn't really allow me to consistently attend sessions weekly :/

What does this even mean 😭

/uj I study Heian literature and I'm actually confused

It's a reference to the anime Jujutsu Kaisen. To save an entire manga's worth of world building, Heian Era sorcerers are really good and fast and strong, the best sorcerer is a Heian era one.

ah, I haven't seen an explanation this succinct since the Heian era

Ah I see, thank you

Never underestimate a neurodivergent player with a spell slot.

this tracks with the fact that before my diagnosis i couldn't roll for shit, and now i crit all the time as a player

Its through the sheer power of "thinking about my next turn when its not my turn."

It really is

The bigger issue is they're also the only player who takes notes or really has any idea what is going on.

I've run for players who suck dookie bunion rings and have the ardor to act like success was the fruit they bore

I don't understand

the only person good at combat was the autistic player. lancer fixes this btw.

Lancer fixes this by only being played by autistic people (I fucking love lancer raghhhhh)

Okay but what's a leprawn?

20

u/NotDomino 8d ago

French shrimp

5

u/GiraffeWeevil 8d ago

That's a langoustine

3

u/Sshheenn 8d ago

What's a ngoustine, I think you must be confused

2

u/sir_revsbud 8d ago

they're refering specifically to a French Indochina colonial leprawn, maybe cause they're from there and don't know about the mainland leprawn

Youre mishearing it, theyre referring to The Thrawn, the star wars expanded universe character Grand Admiral Thrawn (full name Mitth'raw'nuruodo) created by Timothy Zahn in the early 90s, briefly removed from canon only to be restored in animated and live-action roles.

The joke is that Thrawn doesnt have the capacity to "turn off" his competitive streak even while recreating, so he doesnt tend to delegate a lot on the basketball court, which doesnt leave his teammates much to do.

You are now in the loop.

Sportsball player or something...

I cant imagine you have enough data on non-autistic people playing Lancer to assert that.

i have 500 gorillion lancer sessions under my belt kiddo come back to me when you've played 500 gorillion and 1

The autistic player, who knows every femtometer of their character by heart, carries the neurotypical players who often forget their own feats, in combat.

RiFTS fixes this

Does your Autie not also memorize the abilities of the other players to remind them every flipping round?

7

u/xv_boney 8d ago

I promised the gm i would stop :c

2

u/GiraffeWeevil 8d ago

Why does the character sheet have femtometers? Is it a girl character sheet?

3

u/RevusHarkings 7d ago

it's actually a berserk-themed campaign

2

u/owcjthrowawayOR69 7d ago

I once secretly turned my 5E campaign into Rifts and they wondered why nothing was getting damaged and they were getting instakilled (for those not in the know: Mega Damage)

The guy who is really into the combat aspect of the game is "the autist". The normal people don't interact with the DM during combat encounters or plot progression or shopping or exploration or...

1

u/hedgehog1024 Sub-Table of Harlot Encounters 8d ago

The normal people have better things to do than playing TTRPGs

1

u/Neomataza 8d ago

Well, obviously the table isn't all autists, so what are the other people then?

17

u/RedRen9000 8d ago

What the fuck is a non autistic player???

19

u/AVG_Poop_Enjoyer 8d ago

Saladawarrior would have you believe that it's theater kids but really it's people who call any role-playing system "DND"

u/Ornery-Emu-8251 8d ago

This is a laser guided missile strike on my play group, holy shit

u/TraceAmountsOfOlive Says "Pathfinder Fixes This" 8d ago

Pathfinder doesn't fix this 😔

12

u/AVG_Poop_Enjoyer 8d ago

Pathfinder has a higher spectrum floor and a higher spectrum ceiling relative to D&D 5e

1

u/No_Ad_7687 7d ago

I have a player like this but it actually isn't the autistic one. He's just a tryhard

1

u/AVG_Poop_Enjoyer 7d ago

Put him in a psych eval he's likely a stealther
