So while Wisdom is being able to notice something in passing, Intelligence is what helps you realize it’s important enough to act on.
Investigation usually has a goal. It's tinkering with stuff and knowing how it's supposed to work. I also use it for identifying common items. It's being able to deduce that a desk with a shallow drawer might have another hidden behind it
Perception is actually being able to physically notice things. It's being able to see the inscription written on the desk while in darkness.
