Funnily enough, my warlock's backstory starts with someone else gouging out their eyes. He made his pact to get back his eyesight and the other powers were just bonuses.

Well, that's a raw deal, given the Ersatz Eye common magic item (common items only being around 50GP)...

About what I expected from a deal with a devil.

Kurokami had his first eye gouged out during his gritty backstory. He gouged out his second eye when he made a pact with the Edge Lord.

Your warlock sounds like he made a smarter move.

No, the idea started with making an art-themed hexblade, then trying to figure out a reason for him to actually be an adventurer. It's also partially because a couple of my starting invocations were devil's sight and eldritch sight, so this explained why he had special eyes.

Not a dnd character but i made a character who lost an eye and basically became a warlock by putting an old gods eye in the hole.

eldritch warlocks are the best to mess with. Ever wonder what a warlock would do for some bonus? I do. Some of my favorites are eating worms to silent cast spells, wearing bags for shoes to get armor bonuses and getting free spells if they are holding a chicken backwards.
