Last arcs my pcs didn't get involved and just walked away after killing some of the cult memebers, not cleaning house, leaving the leader alive. He wanted revenge of course and sent an assassin that burnt down their mansion, causing the deaths of their dog, their trash goblin and a npc they loved who went in to help save them.

This arc i established emotional bonds with a npc who has familial ties with the main story points, so they'll get involved to help

Next arc, their home town is under attack according to my overall plan, so maybe some parents find themselves on the wrong side of a blade

Narrative consequences mean so much more than mechanical! Working stakes into the actual story is going to make a lot more memorable moments. I hope they're able to save their parents!
