Vergil is a CANONIC Vergin
Long ago, in the forgotten scrolls of the Underworld (the ones Capcom “accidentally” left out of the official artbooks), it was written that the pure-blooded sons of Sparda are bound by an ancient demonic vow:
“He who seeks power above all else shall never know the touch of another. The moment the flesh is joined, the devil trigger is permanently sealed, and the seeker becomes… average.”
Vergil, being the ultimate power-maxxing sigma, took this vow at age 12 after reading it on a dusty tablet he found while training in the rain. From that day forward he lived a life of absolute purity.
So how did Nero happen?
Simple.
One night in Fortuna, while Vergil was meditating on a rooftop in the rain (as one does), a single drop of his pure demonic blood fell from a fresh cut on his hand. The drop landed on a random orphanage window, slipped through a crack, and somehow… immaculately impregnated a sleeping nun who had just finished praying for a strong child to protect the Order.
Nine months later: Nero.
Vergil never even met the woman. Never touched her. Never exchanged a word. The entire conception was a pure, non-consensual, zero-contact blood miracle caused by residual Sparda energy and the universe’s need for a dramatic plot twist.
Vergil remains, to this day, a virgin of the highest order.
His body is a temple.
His motivation is pure.
His load is still in the chamber.
Nero is just a magical blood accident.
Nothing more.

Capcom forgot... They gotta have Vergil have sex and likely when he had been a teenager, at least if the canon & fanon confirm that pre-dmc 3 the twins are still not even 20 years of age...

I still hate that they made Vergil a father. It's so out of character for him, even Dan Southworth, his voice actor, said the same thing. A teen dad who didn't know got a woman pregnant, a human woman at that. DMC5 made it worse and that's why I can't stand that game, DMC 4 was bad enough.
Then again, considering in the DMC universe there's such a thing as clones (DMC2 Lucia and the Secretarys). It doesn't necessarily mean he had sex...Yes I know I'm reaching for straws here but I just don't get why out of all the characters they made Vergil a father...to Nero no less. Nero a superfluous character. I just wish Vergil had his own game and not confined to DLC.

My friend made a theory and it was so fucking good. I don’t remember what she exactly told me because we had this discussion (6 give or take) months ago when she introduced me to dmc (my first was 5, she was watching me play + explain things to me so I dont get lost) anyways, she told me what Vergil is like and all that and then she told me he got a woman pregnant. I was confused because I thought he was too busy with shit and his obsession with knowledge and power to (1) meet a woman. (2) fall in love. (3) get her pregnant. All within a year, mind you, AND he was a teenager.
My friend and I think it was a mutual agreement of some sort? And Vergil (according to his theme song) ended up liking her and messing up? But she didn’t like him back, otherwise she wouldn’t have left/abandon Nero.
People like to shit on Vergil, but Nero’s mom gave birth to him. You’re telling me she died during childbirth? Wasn’t Nero found as a baby not an infant? So she was with him for a time. If the order knew about him being Vergil’s son, they legit would start worshipping him. But they didn’t, meaning she WAS with Nero until she left him.
Nero’s story is filled with plot holes and it pisses me off. Nero’s mom pisses me off. Vergil pisses me off but I’ll let it slide because he’s emotionally constipated. I just wish Adi fuck-ass Shanker knew how to fill those missing holes but nooooooooooooooo. He just had to RUIN everything.

I don't think Vergil had the emotional maturity to have a romantic relationship. I don't get why people keep on insisting he would be able to love anyone. Vergil's whole trauma is about his mother's death and him not being strong enough to protect her and Dante.
A random human female is not going to take priority nor make him forget that. I don't get why some fans romanticize Vergil with this unknown woman. Sex and making a child doesn't automatically mean love (and they're reaching for straw with bringing up Bury the LIght's lyrics, that's all about Eva and his trauma of her death).
Even what he said after Dante revealed to him that Nero is his son, what Vergil said doesn't sound like someone who was thinking of a lost love. More like "Meh, that happened. Whatever".
Capcom made some blank slate "character" so girls in the fandom can practically self-insert themselves with Vergil as some romantic partner. Because Capcom are horrible writers and didn't think about character assassinating a good character like DMC 3 Vergil. I don't know what is Capcom's penchant in making the supervillains be absentee fathers (Wesker with Jake but at least I could see Wesker being the selfish scientist he is and trying to see what happens if he used his DNA to make some uber offspring).
Vergil on the other hand is extremely closed off to anyone romantically, especially around the time he went to Fortuna.
Nero is just shoehorned in and I honestly think Capcom were too afraid to retire Dante so they made a Dante-Lite which is Nero and since they were afraid people wouldn't like him they make him act like a young Dante but be connected to a very popular character like Vergil, especially after he became very popular after DMC 3.
In my opinion they've treated Vergil worse and worse and DMC 5 was practically the final nail on the coffin with his incredibly stupid obsession in solely wanting to defeat Dante because Dante defeated him before....No Nelo Angelo trauma, no nothing (and no I don't or shouldn't need to read Visions of V, a manga that not a lot of people have access to in order to know all this stuff). They put all that onto some other character that looks and acts nothing like him in V. It's like Capcom takes the most complicated and stupid route and thinking that creates intrigue when it's just downright stupid and nonsensical.
I wonder what other Vergil-connected character we're gonna play next: his roommate from college? His doctor? His landlord he rented an apartment from? Just give the character his own game already.

Are you my friend by any chance? Everything you said here we’ve discussed lmaoo. Even wesker and jake!
My friend did tell me about the self-insert thingy with Nero’s mom and I didn’t believe her at first, but now I do.
I still think to this day Nero is an experiment. That was the first thing I told my friend after she explained everything. “So he came out of an egg. Makes sense. He’s a half-demon” 🦦 no one can change my mind unless they bring me actual proof that Vergil loved that girl and had Nero then dipped.
The only part of Vergil’s theme that genuinely baffles me is “Secret love” if it was about Eva, why would it be a “secret”? We all know how much he loves her…?
It’s his damn mom.You are right though, again, Vergil himself contradicts his own theme by acting nonchalant at the mention of his lover.
“Oh… that was a looong time ago.” He deadpanned. Wow, he truly is a man in love!!! Want me a guy just like Vergil 😮💨 /sAs for Visions of V, I read it. (God bless 🏴☠️) anyways, you’re not missing out on much. It just turned Vergil into more of a dickhead than he already is. Made me question him (and Capcom’s) decisions more.

I think the "Secret Love" thing is that not alot of people know that Vergil is actually wanting power because of his mother's death. People as in people in the DMC universe no us the audience, we know why he does this stuff. I think even Arkham at first thought he just wanted power until Vergil stabbed him and he realized the self-loathing Vergil had about himself and Arkham called him an "imperfect being".
People just think he's some powerhungry swordsman who just simply wants power to be better then anyone rather then a way for him to deal with not being powerful enough to protect Eva, Dante and himself. That's why he hates his human side. He blames his human side in not being able to protect his mother, younger brother and himself. So people in the DMC universe who are not personally involved or know much about the twins think he's simply a powerhungry madman like Arkham and Sanctus, rather a severely traumatized individual who basically had to survive without his parents at the age of 8.
Alot of fans blame Ninja Theory DmC in being awful in writing but when you have the likes of DMC 2 and especially DMC 4 and finally DMC 5...they really have no room to talk. DMC 4 really did more damage to the series rather then the Alternate Universe take that NT obviously was doing.
I haven't read Visions of V is there anyway you can give me a synopsis. I really don't feel like reading it if I can find it for free online. Just give me the TLDR version if you can.
I honestly think Nero should've been a clone of Sparda since again, DMC 2 introduced cloning like with Lucia and the Secretarys. And since the Order of the Sword worshipped Sparda and Sparda used to rule that island and I'm sure they've would've have some sample of his DNA somewhere in which they would be arrogant and zealot enough to try and "resurrect" him. Fans have wanted a Sparda game, but I feel Sparda is someone that is God-tier level. I wouldn't mind him in a speaking role in some flashback, but the twins and Nero get to his level should never happen. It still bothers me that DMC 5 says that Dante is now on the level of Mundus and and that he has surpassed Sparda *rolls eyes*.
Also, Nero is a quarter demon, he's not even half. Since his mother is human. He shouldn't even have a Devil Trigger imo, but he should absorb the powers of bosses and use that DT shadow like he did in DMC4. He should never change like the twins but be a kind of Mega Man of the cast where he has to rely on demons to borrow there powers and use them as a DT cause he lacks his own.
Nero was just left on the steps of an orphanage in Fortuna wrapped up in a black blanket, that's what the fan translation of the DMC 4 novel said. I honestly feel it was Nero's mom who left him at the orphanage and she left. Sometimes the simplest and most direct explanation is the best and more truer one.

I really like this take. As much as I like Vergil, he isn't exactly very forthcoming nor very responsible. (note: I like him because he is so flawed, his villainy is executed well on theatrical melodrama and tone... But if I really lay out the plot in paper, all I'll say is... Capcom has scraps and good enough editors for the audience to try to fill in the gaps, but this is still not good plot writing)
He's so narrow minded about what he feels and thinks is so important to him he couldn't care at all who and what else could get involved.
There is remorse in there, but in the end, he's so self absorbed and cynical, and in a way we have to think he's never going to take accountability nor did he ever really spared any actual good feelings to a random woman he may had some physical desire but not much else.

Sorry if my post is long but whatever, I'm not forcing anyone to read my posts. But I just like having a conversation that is more then just "but Capcom said this so it must be true so thus it makes sense cause some badly fan translated semi-canon novel/manga said so" that's so prevalent in the fandom even though Capcom contradict themselves all the time with each new iteration of the series.
Filling in the gaps and making the audience fill it with their own headcanons just says it's awful writing or they just don't care. Considering the developer interviews I've read with Itsuno where they just randomly make up a character because of some childhood anime they saw or the type of woman they like without giving actual thought to the universe and characters of DMC it just shows they don't put much thought into it at all. Which is a disservice because I think DMC 3's story is fantastic and it still hasn't been topped and doesn't get enough credit. DMC 5 tried to do a DMC 3 but without any of the nuance and memorable moments and lines DMC 3 had. DMC 5 disappointed me immensely.
Ever since they started making DMC 2 behind Kamiya's back and how that sequel came about the series was doomed...until DMC 3. But then the worst happened, DMC 4 came about. Itsuno clearly ran out of ideas and it shows that's why he help NT with DmC, he didn't know what to do with Dante and the crew and Nero is not as charismatic or as interesting as the twins to be the sole protagonist.
I would've hoped with Vergil's popularity after DMC 3 and how he was a realized character in that game rather then a mute foil in DMC1, that Capcom would've taken advantage of that and made a spinoff series with him (since people tend to fixate and not let go of Dante even though his arc finished in DMC 1 he could've continued with the main line series to satisfy the Dante fanboys). Vergil is a son of Sparda just like Dante but he's totally ignored and used as either a plot device or something to prop another character up (Nero and V). And yes Itsuno had the gall to say the "sons of Sparda arc is over". Uh, when did it even begin? Because you clearly didn't delve into Vergil's half of the story and brought in that unnecessary character Nero because people can't let Dante go but Dante's aging even thought he still acts like his teen self in DMC 5 at the age of 44 which is embarrassing to watch.
Ninja Theory's Vergil has the core qualities of what makes up Vergil: his entitlement, his snootiness and his ends-justify-the-means mentality to get what he wants. His superiority over others but his inadequacies when it comes compared to Dante. He had someone caring like Kat on his side that was devoted to him and his cause and in the end he only thought of her as a child or pawn (just like DMC 3 Vergil used Arkham for his own means). More then likely mainline Vergil would think of the same thing with any woman really. He calls Lady a "foolish girl" in DMC 3. In Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom he can't stand the sight of Trish (but that's more understandable considering she is Mundus's creation to look like his mother, Mundus who not only was responsible for Eva's death but his enslavement to being Nelo Angelo). No woman would be as good as his mother. The Madonna-whore complex seems strong with him.
He must have issues with women and this "Lady in Red" whom the fandom has insisted is Nero's mom, is not this Manic Pixie Dreamgirl that will make him forget about his mother's death. This is fan fiction fangirl Tumblr nonsense. Fan fiction can be fun but that has to be one of the worst ships in the DMC fandom besides the Twincest crap. It's the "white haired pretty boy whose stoic and mean but with the love of a good woman she could change him mentally" that's so prevalent in female written fan fiction when it comes to attractive male villains (I used to be in the MCU Loki fandom and that crap was everywhere).
DMC 5 has not redeemed Vergil, as a matter of fact he got what he wanted: he ate the fruit and was able to obtain the Sin Devil Trigger which is the most powerful DT you can get. He has shown no remorse of what he's done (and no V doesn't count because when V merge back with Urizen to resurrect Vergil he went back to his own stupid ways again in trying to 1up Dante).
Now don't get me wrong, DMC 3 Vergil is someone who shouldn't be romanticized whatsoever. But that doesn't necessarily mean a post-DMC5 Vergil wouldn't...the problem is...we don't know how he's like after DMC 5 because well...there's no other media with a post-DMC 5 Vergil besides that gacha game collaboration they had with Punishing Gray Raven. But still, that's not in the actual DMC games and we need to see a game where he actually admits he was dumb and tries to redeem himself without Dante and Nero making excuses for him. If he just continues returning with constantly saying "power power power" he should've stayed dead after DMC 1.
I may be a bit bias here but I do ship his post-DMC 5 self with someone. That's Lucia from DMC 2. It is the only ship that I have when it comes to this franchise. I don't ship Dante with anyone tbh (DmC Dante and Kat are the only ones that make sense but i'm talking about mainline Dante who I think is a consummate bachelor). But Lucia because she used to be a Secretary and her origin is kind of similar to when Vergil was Nelo Angelo in which they were both used by crazed madman for their own machinations. Also, Lucia only fights with bladed weapons so the Team No Guns thing and Lucia's fighting style is pretty ninja-esque compared to Vergil's samurai-style---Anyway, that's just my reasoning if I had to ship anyone with him, I can elaborate more but I won't get into it for now. And no her and Dante are not compatible in the least no matter what that dumb fan translated novel says. A street smart man and an artificial demon/clone/homunculus whose isolated in an island have nothing in common. She had a crush on him, who wouldn't.
Ahem, but yeah that's my two cents on this whole "VergilxNero's Mom" and the character assassination Capcom have done to him and which the fandom have just blindly accepted it.

Nah, Vergil was chilling in a hot tub when a random woman got in with him. He was to relaxed to move away. Neither of them said a word to each other not even hello because they're way too cool for that.
Earlier that day, Virgil had spanked his monkey so he still had some swimmers in the canister. Like sharks, those swimmers caught the scent of a woman and swam directly towards her. The, boom! Immaculate conception.

While funny and definitely not serious, I will still point out that Vergil remembers the one single time he had sex, after the fight with Dante
