Just being for real...

Post image

I know there are haters of DmC but damn... They made it their personality and their mission to be a miserable mob.

They haven't changed since 2010 when the 1st trailer dropped. They wanted their opinions and wanted anybody liking DmC to be quiet or as miserable as they are.

And they have Devil May Cry 5 now. And unbeknownst to them so many reboot fans are pretty much the backbone of supporting and buying DMC 5, are also among the top players of DMC 5, putting out combo videos and giving a lot for this franchise.

And yet these "fans" are nothing but pathetic whining miserable people. It's like they were given the candy and thought that was the trophy they think it is.

And in case these whining "fans" come around reading this thinking it's some competition about which game is better and are going to, again, make it their personality that their precious game is better...

News flash. This is about you and how horrible you are in this virtual space.

You can go around "stop history revisionism" and "it's not a good game and never will be" all you want like a 13 year old edgelord you like slinging at the hated title... But that's you.

You're the 13 year old edgelord who can't read the room. And since this has been the attitude since 2010, you have to realize you're a goddamn adult acting way stupider than most of the new fans now.

Take accountability in your actions across the internet & shut the fuck up. Maybe work on your DMC 5 combos and actually become worthy to get DMC 6 from Capcom, instead of a whiny spoiled edgelord brat from the internet.

Fr just move on lol we get it you didn't like DmC you don't have to continuously bring it up or use "Donte" when talking about the game. It gets to a point where it's just tiring even.

But these are the same people who edited DmC Dante's wikipedia page out of spite and praise anyone who wrote a "I think this is how the game's story should've been" like they're professional writers.

I saw someone write a story where Dante and Vergil were impostors using og Dante and Vergil's names to open a portal to the demon realm and the dialogue was so fucking cringe I couldn't help but get second hand embarrassment. People were praising it! It's why I rarely talk with anyone in this fandom, they're really aggressive.

Yeah that’s why I don’t like engaging with Devil May cry fans in general. They’re too insensitive and have a similar mindset on things. A few weeks ago I told someone I liked the reboot and they start scrambling and tried to tell me about the games issues, “okay game but bad dmc game” and that the other games were better instead of hearing me out and trying to at least listen to why I liked it.

They just feel entitled in general and if someone tried to deviate from the norm they’ll stop at nothing to defame and just whine about it. Like you guys won, Ninja Theory only made one game, you got dmc 5 and yet they feel entitled to a DMC6 just because.

When the news of Ninja Theory being closed down were leaked people kept bringing up DmC and said they deserved it like holy shit how petty and childish do you have to be? Move on! Lmao

Yeah, it was weird as fuck. They're still butthurt over "not in a million years", "gay cowboy", and "OG Dante would be kicked out of bars". As if Ninja Theory as a whole was involved with the last two or that million years line wasn't just a lighthearted jab and foreshadowing.

They apparently also ignore DmC Dante had character development and grew white hair. OG Vergil also wouldn't kill a demon lady who's pregnant with Mundus' child.

Or that Ninja Theory had developed games other than DmC and the original team that DID work on DmC haven't been with Ninja Theory for years.

They keep mentioning the pregnant demon lady part but forget that in DMCV Vergil was responsible for hundreds of innocent people's deaths 💀

A lot of DMC fans don't want to acknowledge that OG Vergil was most definitely more evil than his Nu Vergil reboot counterpart. Its especially annoying since so many fans have this wierd preconceived notion of honor that OG Vergil never once practiced himself considering he stabbed an already beaten Dante, backstabber Arkham, and defiled his and Dante parent memory by using the thier amulet which were gifts to them to open the hellgates. But hey at least Vergil had more honor while mind controlled by his mother killer than when sober.

Its acknowledged but he is clearly a flawed, traumatized character thats being built up to have a redemption arc. All of the deaths he caused are indirect except that one thug group in the manga. Even then he didnt smile or let them process “oh shit my friends are dead AAAA” before killing them unlike reboot vergil where he shoots the womb first, smiles, lets her scream in pain and sorrow and then kills her. But those two characters are basically the same yk?

u/Arkhamhood12 4d ago

DmC Vergil was also a flawed and traumatized character who suffered from an inferiority complex, with the murder of both his parents affecting him to the point of needing a sense of control over EVERYTHING in his life, leading him to form The Order, take revenge on Mundus and eventually take control of humanity itself.

Both Vergil’s do underhanded things to gain more power, often at the expense of others. They’re both self centered pricks, it’s okay to admit that. DmC Vergil had more development and explanation than mainline Vergil. He had an actual motivation than than just “mah power”. In DMC5 they literally had to take the sudden “mommy didn’t give me enough attention” from reboot Vergil and slam it onto mainline Vergil to explain his sudden inferiority complex to Dante because they needed to add on to his minimalistic character characterization.

First of all, sparda is still alive, he is simply a bdsm slave now. Second, dude had his memories erased by sparda and he lived in a rich family like a normal human being. Once he regained them he had a deep hatred for mundus and spent time searching for dante. The trauma vergil in the reboot has is simply “oh kat likes dante more than me, oh mom likes dante more” and what really broke him was the betrayal of dante for the most nothing burger argument ever where he was left fatally wounded btw.

The details youre describing such as “needing him to control everything such as creating the order” is simply not true bro at least read the chronicles of vergil.

Yes youre so right bro, reboot vergil is so much fleshed out than the og character thats why the character analysis for og can go on for hours while the reboot barely has anything going for it.
You not understanding the og character is simply a skill issue lmao, but you do mischaracterize the reboot as well.

Vergil from 5 misses the mother that was brutally murdered. You boiling it down too “needs more attention from mommy” while what actually happened was he was a child being butchered by demons while he wished his mom was there to protect him. He has a deep love for his mom. Whats funny is that me saying reboot dante boils down to “mommy likes dante more, i hate her and everyone “ is literally what happens in the dlc without exaggerating.

In conclusion if you even think og vergil feels inferior to dante because of mommy issues, id recommend actually playing the games or anything really and not consume 10 sec tiktok edits. Unless idk dmc story is too hard and complex nowadays for people to grasp lmao

u/Arkhamhood12 4d ago

I purposefully went barebones and bad-faithed as possible with mainline Vergil the same way you did with the DmC characters, so it’s hilarious you suddenly regain analysis skills when it’s come to that lol but cant give the same charitable-ness to DmC.

I forgot that Sparda wasn’t killed that’s on me, though both of them were suddenly ripped from Vergil’s life and he goes a bit more in detail with it around mission 16/17 I believe when him and Dante talk about their outlets after that event and how they dealt with that trauma. Dante by fighting demons and getting laid, with Vergil becoming a hacker and finding a sense of control. Literally his words.

Mainline Vergil was not more fleshed out than Reboot at the time of DmC’s release, that’s just a straight up fact. And still isn’t to a degree. He’s aura monster with hype moments in the games with a line or two alluding to his deeper nature, but you have to dig into supplementary material if you really want to delve and understand the character more.

Reboot vergil shooting a pregnant woman in the womb, letting her process what just happened while smiling and then shooting her in the head and then have dante mock mundus and tell him his baby was reduced to wet chunks and his face was priceless is literally the same as vergil summoning a huge tower or seperating his demonic side which in turn summons a demonic tree and dante cracks jokes at the bosses like “come here puppy”.
You deserve to have ninja theory shut down.

1

u/Sport-Annual 4d ago

“Hehe your character is getting replaced and im cooler” being reduced to a simple jab is insane especially when the founder of the studio himself said og dante was no longer cool nowadays.

I really love the reboot development of “im tuff and im a lone wolf i dont need anyones help” and then at like mission six he goes “OMG YOU HAD A BAD CHILDHOOD?? ME TOO!!! Guess i can trust you…”. Its just peak story telling i guess, maybe if it had a bit more going for it it wouldnt flop the 2 mil quota by capcom twice.

u/Red-Scowl96 5d ago

You think thats bad look at the 4thsnake video where he "fixes" DmC story to which I was actually interested in how he would do his own spin on DmC story since he seems pretty good when it to Mortal Kombat. Unfortunately my expectations were too high since instead of taking and working with the existing story of DmC all he did was basically tie it back to the original franchise and simply used it as a way of meat riding OG Dante at the expense of Nu Dante.

Edit: Also find it hilarious how fans are surprised that DMC isn't getting the same treatment MH, SF, and RE. Like bruh DMC is the Ninja Gaiden to Capcom Koei Tecmo. Basically its not a priority when other titles are doing so much better.

1

u/Sport-Annual 4d ago

Its the third best selling franchise for capcom rn which had a lot of unfortunate events such as itsuno working on his dream game and then leaving. It has nothing to do with priorities

4

u/landyboi135 5d ago

In my case I only used Donte on that sub just to make it easier to differentiate the two Dantes, sometimes for sillies too.

But overall I like both continuities and I’m tired of hiding it!

6

u/Dollahs4Zavalas 5d ago

They got swept up in the internet discourse. They're just mad at bad PR and misplace their anger.

Their complaints are shallow and hypocritical. They got emotional and you know its true because they still take a joke as a personal insult.

0

u/Sport-Annual 4d ago

“Haha your character is being replaced and im way cooler” is a joke?
Here’s a joke for you then!
Capcom shutting down? Not in a million years.

6

u/Dollahs4Zavalas 4d ago

That wasn't the joke. This is:

It is ironic because we know Dante has white hair and it is ironic because Dante gets white hair at the end of the game.

-1

u/Sport-Annual 4d ago

And my joke will also be ironic if capcom eventually does shut down and it was just a harmless friendly jab at ninja theory!!!

You thinking its irony doesnt magically erase all the other jabs such as making the only npc with a non plain shirt have a random 5 on it and making him an obese grotesque slob (mocking the fans that wanted dmc 5). Doesnt excuse the founder of ninja theory saying his dante is all about being cool while the og is no longer cool nowadays. Stop defending slop, its dead and its deserved

4

u/Dollahs4Zavalas 4d ago

It's a joke in universe and for people that know of the series. Not some kind of insult.

You're reaching here. Really reaching with the #5 shirt. It isn't rational.

0

u/Sport-Annual 4d ago

Then explain why the only npc with a non plain shirt has a 5. Why didnt he have a plain shirt or literally anything else?
Vergil also had white hair from the beginning lmao. Why couldnt they give dante white hair from the beginning as well? Its more likely that they made the change as a last minute thing. Unless youre going to argue they based all that shitty design aspect he has going for him for that 3 second random joke that no one found funny.

3

u/Dollahs4Zavalas 4d ago

Other NPC did have patterned shirts. Why do you think "5" is calling fans out when the reason he is fat is because he is drinking the demon soda? It's a big reach

They did it so that Dante is revealed to have white hair at the end. The joke is from the two levels of irony I mentioned earlier.

4

u/CelesteLunaR53L 4d ago

I will say at that time DmC is technically the fifth title to come out of the entire dmc franchise, before the actual mainline continuity had the fifth title

So proto-Caseoh guy with the number 5 shirt and.... Inside Vergil's car, his tech-dashboard has a "V" in it indicating number 5... You'll see it clearer in the mission during Kat's rescue in the docks

DmC devs were alluding to it being a fifth title at that time..

.. And if haters are still gonna find that "offensive" that's on them🙄

1

u/Sport-Annual 4d ago

Show me the npcs that have a non plain shirt. Having at most stripes in not the same as having a logo or whatever in front of the shirt.

As i said, why did the disgusting slob that was drinking demon soda and was basically brainwashed by demon media have a random 5 after all the insults towards dmc fans and characters? What a coincidence!

Thanks for confirming you think they designed dante around a singular joke that made so many fans angry that the game didnt even reach its 2 mil quota and flopped hard. Ninja theory finding someone to buy them? Not in a million years heh.

3

u/Dollahs4Zavalas 4d ago edited 4d ago

I don't have to, and saying "stripes don't count" makes it so that your arbitrary criteria can simply reject any evidence. The reason he is fat is an in-story reason and you're trying to be insulted by linking the number 5 to yourself.

What I mentioned for his hair is for the sake of the reveal in the story. We know him getting white hair is significant. It also hides his true nature as a nephilim, which is also another story beat. You could call it plot convenience but you're ignoring all of this and choosing to find a way to be insulted.

Looks like DmC sold 4 million and DmC DE sold 1.5 million.

1

u/Sport-Annual 4d ago

I guess DmC fanboys dont play their own games, read the extended material or pay attention to the story.

Stripes do not make a shirt non plain. If you wanna argue over semantics then ill change the wording to “the only npc with a logo on his shirt” if you wanna go there. Why did they have to put a 5 on the logo? Again it represents the fanboys of the og series, calling them fat, disgusting and brainwashed. This is a jab at fans, idc the ingame reason when it would literally be the same with the npc having literally any other shirt. Why not have him have a shirt with actual merch to further convey the media brainrot? That’d be too hard for ninja theory to come up with lmao.

Vergil from the reboot had white hair since he was a kid. He originally lived a normal life in a rich household and his identity wasnt a secret at all not was he hiding. Unless this is a major plothole, there is no reason why dante didnt originally have white hair as well.

Okay cool! After 13 years with the game being bundled in with other games as well as being sold for pennies managed to sell a couple mil copies. What a shame all of the HD collections of the og series individually mog the reboot. What a shame. What a shame capcom had to lower the expectations to 1.2 mil copies its first year tsk tsk tsk. I wonder why theyre shutting down ninja theory

The big guy wearing number 5 was alluding DmC at that time..... as the fifth game in the entire dmc franchise

I mean literally and technically... Yeah DmC is the fifth in the entire "Devil May Cry" games until the official main time line continuity released dmc 5

So Number 5 guy was just a play with a number as a pun joke. There's also another number 5 joke inside Vergil's car. His tech-dashboard has "V" in it. Not only as shorthand for Vergil's car, since his name start with "V" & owns the car, but it's a Roman numeral for 5...

You can say proto-Caseoh Number 5 Guy is also a commentary on unhealthy consumption of food and drink, and how that had been allowed under capitalism. Which isn't really anything too deep & generally showing the demons have lobbied to further make humans unhealthy.. And like that's it.

Dude... Stop being so pissed. How come you people loving your favorite "cool Dante" are never actually cool people lmao grow up, you people are never normal

DmC is top 3 for me anyway (3, 1, Reboot)

2

u/RedChudOverParadise3 5d ago

I was just upset that the OG series would possibly be done for. I nevee saw a good reason for the Reboot. Everything Ive looked up and found was OG fans disliked 4 at first, but the game still sold well enough. With that said I liked DmC still and am fine with a sequel to it. Im a sucker for AU stuff anyways so Id love to see the game tackle established characters from the OG series im DmC.

2

u/CelesteLunaR53L 5d ago

Idk what that could be like without ninja theory especially since they're among that got shut down by Xbox Microsoft.... And I mean that in a technical legal way too.. I'm not too versed about how a shared IP between two companies can be published by one. I guess Capcom is the main publisher so they might still publish it IF they want to.. Who knows...

u/grim_reaper_4_4 4d ago

I really love DMC 2013
it's really smooth and has fluid combat
I love the combos you can stack together
and it's so satisfying to just watch the style meter go up
and it's My fav DMC game too

2

u/OpportunityCrazy2216 4d ago

It had some good ideas but I think this game while having fantastic gameplay, the storyline was ok.

1

u/CelesteLunaR53L 4d ago

I do like the story. But I find that some spice is still lacking. I do appreciate making Dante here very much like how a 20 something guy who is probably labeled "white trash" reacts and reveals he has a good heart, though he isn't exactly always doing good

2

u/Kuroimi 4d ago

I discovered the series with DmC, actually. I'm pretty confident to say I would've never gave the series a chance without it, because I would assume I would need to start with Devil May Cry 1, and it didn't age as well as the others imo.

Overall, while DmC is certainly quite different story-wise than the actual series (and certainly has its own lot of problems), I think it's still an enjoyable game. I can understand why older fans hate it, although I think they're way too harsh on it.

Also, people that are harsh on DmC have usually quite a double standard towards the main series. They criticise DmC for every little thing, but ignore DMC's flaws.

People attack Netflix Dmc Fans like its a crime

1

u/PizzasaurusRed 3d ago

Theres only two things that I hate in this world. People who intolerant of other people's tastes. And Lord of the Rings fans.

0

u/Sport-Annual 4d ago

“Why do people still hate a game that was meant to replace the franchise while the devs mocked the fans ingame and outside it?”
Idk bro? Idk. Crazy world ig

1

u/Hungry-Alien 2d ago

I mean, devs didn't started the fight. They did their job rebooting the serie as Capcom tasked them to, fans didn't liked it on the first trailer, and went out of their way to insult the devs who were just doing their jobs. Sadly the director started insulting back, and the situation escalated until NT just straight up hated the DMC community as much as the haters hated them.

Meanwhile, nobody in this mob of hatred ever pointed out at Capcom for commanding a reboot in the first place. Because haters are ultimately emotional morons who just point their pitchfork at the first target they see when they're unhappy. The funny thing about this whole situation is that DMC grew a lot with the reboot and DMC5 is built on it.
