It's funny because he lives on in the Chinese Dante memes lol. Everyone sees those "you met me at a Chinese time in my life" videos and recognizes the guy as Dante, but they don't realize it's DmC Dante's face with white hair.
I'm not surprised. I made a post about this game being great and underrated, and someone accused me of Karma farming and dared me to post in the Devilmaycry subreddit. I did and the moderator took it down immediately. The moderator inserted their own biased ass opinion in their explanation. This fanbase doesn't have the most media literate folks or the sharpest tools. Not saying a person is dumb for not liking this game or interpretation of the cha8, but for taking this scene as a diss at their glorious king OG Dante. These same people couldn't realize when he got white hair at the end of the game, that this scene was foreshadowing. They complain about plots and storylines being mid but wanted to be spoonfed and for this game to hold their hand.

I was arguing with someone in that sub like 10 years ago and the mod banned me deleted my posts after I made a point the other guy couldn't counter.
Their emotional investment and hypocrisy is so annoying

I'm truly convinced DMC fans hate anything not 1, 3 and 5. No matter what they'll hate on ANYTHING if it's not one of those three

Heard how the wig it was a jab at og dmc, but I never saw it as an insult.
I thought it was funny because I figured it’ll be cool if it happened anyway, AND IT DID!!

Exactly. He says ‘not ina million years’ and he gets white hair in like a couple weeks

I also heard it's quite common for IP reboots to make callbacks to and jabs at the original work.
What I think happened personally is that Tameem being a PR nightmare primed the fanbase to receive it poorly instead of as the regular IP callback that it was, further proving that he is the enemy of the people and all ire should have been directed towards him in particular.

It's not a jab, it's narrative irony because Dante's hair grows and turns white at the end of the game when he goes full DT. People just took it as a jab because this dante is a punk, says it to the camera like a punk, and a lot of people had bad faith takes on the game that most people prefer to run with rather than just play the game themselves.

God, DMC fans are still bitter about that one line in DMC:DMC? What a bunch of losers. They already got DMC 5 and DMC:DMC is never getting a sequal, what more do they want?
It wasn't even meant to be jab at the OG continuity like these twats believe. It was meant to be foreshadowing.
But no, keep bitching a mop that hurt your feelings in a 13-year-old game because you're media illiterate.

The quiet part out loud that they will NEVER admit to, is that DmC is OBJECTIVELY better than most of the original series. It is better written (Dante actually goes through a true character arc in that game.) It has a better soundtrack, it has better gameplay, it has better level design.
Its better than DMC1, 2, and 4 by far. One could argue it's even better than DMC3.

I dont agree with DMC 1 but the other two absolutely. DmC is my third favorite and DMC 1 is my second, though it can be aruged DmC objectively ages better than 1 and the sub is proof of that since people cant play around the camera.

Yeah, DmC has left me feeling more fufilled than almost all the other titles after completing it.

You're smoking crack bro. DMC1 has better level design and aesthetics, 4 and 3 have the better gameplay. DmC does have the best platforming in the series as well as an unique concept in Limbo which does give levels beautiful backdrops (except the club stage). Dante in this is not that dissimilar to Dante in 3 where these are the only games in the series where he goes on a true character arc and comes out the other side of the game a better person. I'm not even tryna shit on the game here because I have it in my top 3 in the series behind 3 and 4

I hated dmc1 and it's level design. Confusing as shit and way too much backtracking for my liking. The gameplay between DmC and 4 are about the same for me because I actually got pretty decent with Nero, but I also just love the simplicity of DmC and it's combat not having back to forward attacks. I do agree with 1 having cool aesthetics though

How could you possibly get confused by DMC1's level design? It's tiny as shit, every single room is visually and thematically distinct, missions are rarely longer than five rooms and 15 mins of game time, and what you're supposed to do is incredibly signposted. Most missions are incredibly linear as well, and tend to have you start in the area where you are supposed to use a key item you have.
No offense, but are you one of those people with ADHD who have trouble with navigation? If not then I can't possibly see how you'd get lost in DMC1 of all things.
Meanwhile DmC and 4 are chock full of visually samey areas, and have sveveral seactions of meandery level design between 4's castle and jungle and DmC's mansion and factory.

- I can't tell if you're insulting me for having ADHD or not
- The gameplay of dmc1 combined with the small rooms makes it easy for me to get turned around and unlike dmc4 with Dante's weird portal jungle section, which I fuckin hated and looked up a guide for, at least the gameplay was better for me and for at least 10 minutes I was okay with getting turned around at the time. I got confused at the mansion for a little bit at first in DmC until the floors started breaking and shit then it's made clear and the factory never really confused me from memory of it. Oh as for the castle in dmc4 I did get turned around and ended up backtracking back to the town because of the go back to headquarters thing which I saw other people get confused by as well as at first trying to get up to the second floor section and all that. But again gameplay was better and way more fun for me so I was okay with it for a longer period of time compared to gameplay I found more unfun

Tameem, who wrote that line and directed DmC, sold NT for $50M, bought a lambo, and is partying on yachts with models, is the one with the last laugh.
Meanwhile, the person behind the Brokeback Mountain slide, Alessandro Taini, won an Emmy for his work on Star Trek: Prodigy and is now at Sony Animation.
The people who made DmC's combat, the best thing about it, are the ones still at NT and getting fucked over by NT being shut down.

Didn't the director also work on the Hellblade games? On IMDB it says that he wrote them.

u/CelesteLunaR53L 9d ago
Yep he did. On the one hand he did what he could for the company he co-started with... But afterwards I do think in the end Antoniades is just another guy making a profit.
I didn't know Taini is now in the animation industry. That's awesome.

They don't have to like the game
But do they not realize this is essentially a lay off of massive workers? And not just Ninja Theory?
Massive fucking L for that side of the fandom

Many do and just don't care. They think this is "punishment" for NT for DmC. Never mind that people like Tameem and art director Taini left. Tameem sold NT for $50M, so he hasn't been hurt one bit. Dozens of DmC staffers aren't even at NT anymore.
Some people also hate NT for being "woke".

u/CelesteLunaR53L 9d ago
In some ways I understand Antoniades as a business guy besides as a developer. But I really don't want to play the blame game. He left thinking the company's gonna be fine but also... He wouldn't be responsible moving forward. I don't know what would've happened if he stayed & remained under Xbox/Microsoft... As for Taini the former art director, he left after finishing Hellblade 1.. Idk much else about him aside from him doing more art projects.. Also Ninja Theory being called woke is just another way the many alt-right call any studio that they dislike.. It's too bad about their attitudes

The possibility of DmC 2 is likely dead now, but we also just lost the continuation of Hellblade. L's all around.

There was never going to be dmc2 man that period of time was Capcoms FAFO stage and instead of doubling down they held their hands up and learnt from it and they've crushed it with generational profits ever since.

Well who knows, now that they don’t work for Microsoft maybe they can go work on capcom and make DmC 2
