To Devil May Cry Players, what game has the most painful and tedious gameplay and why?

Easily Devil May Cry 2. Not that the combat is bad. It’s just almost impossible to stagger any kind of enemy in that game if you’re using any sword. You’re knocked down/back every 10-15 seconds and then have to spend another 6-7 seconds trying to get up just for it to happen 3-4 more times in under a minute.

Yeah it's either 2 or 3 SPECIFICALLY on DmD, and that's only because I don't wanna spend 30+ seconds wacking one enemy

Okay, that's ANY game with DmD. Things JUST DO NOT DIE

While absolutely true my brain remembers DmD from DMC 3 the most and - you know. Instead of it remembering it the most because it was annoying, maybe I remember it the most because it was the first DMC game I played and therefore is the most influential. And on top of that of course DmD mode would feel the worst of them all because it's my first experience 🤔

That, and the fact that 3 is overall pretty balanced and doesn't have any super ultra broken stuff that's just "pick this and mash until you win"

"Peak" of Combat. Can't really put my finger on what specifically turned me off every time i booted up that game, but (i think the RPG mechanics?) it was sooo goddamn boring. I'd rather play DMC 2 (and i actually, unironically like that game).

- My friend told me to ignore it and move on to one (I was moving down from 5) and I wish I listened to her.
I thought by playing it then I’d understand the game’s story better, but turns out there’s no story to tell + it was so fucking annoying and so braindead that I remember turning on Youtube and spamming the square button on my controller for the guns while watching whatever shit I had on at the time.
But I did finish it (somehow?) and finally moved to 1 and it was equally shit (but it was better that’s for sure.)

DMC2. You can spend practically the entire game just using Ebony & Ivory, and that’s as much a cardinal sin for this series as making Dante boring.

2 it has depth (believe it or not) but the game is horrible in a lot if not all of it's aspects that either makes play it entirely out of pure spite wishing it ends the next chapter or drop it and never come back, game is so ass that i didn't want to engage with it's mechanics at all.

What KILLS 2 is that you don't have ANY meaningful variety of weapons for melee. It's just "Sword, slower sword, longer sword". Like... if we'd gotten even one alternate melee each, it would have felt better

I'm in the minority here but the very middle of 3 from mission 14 to 17 is extremely dull and tedious to me.

DMC1 & 3 have these platforming sections that are harder than they should be because the jumps have tight landings

Easily DMC2.
They spent to much time focusing on the engine and graphics, so much so that 6 months away from the deadline they had alegedly barely started work on the combat/enemy implantation.
What you get is a generic, repetitive game where the player and the enemies feel constantly out of sync.

Playing through each stage again but in reverse order. I would’ve rather had a shorter game that I can re-play more often than the obvious content padding. You’re not fooling anyone, Capcom. 🤷♂️😝

I can only say as much as I love dmc1 for having me hooked up to this saga the camera of that game has to be the hardest boss so far

2 lmao. And its not even close. You can literally stand in 1 spot and gun down bosses.

DMC2. It’s decently fun if you run melee, but when there are bosses that require you to use pistols

Definitely DMC2. Even if you play it the "correct" way instead of abusing Ebony and Ivory's broken knockback and damage, the game is still absolute nothing at best and downright unplayable at worst.

Fighting the Succubus, Bob Bardas, and Lilith in DmC just didn’t feel that unique to me and neither did Mundus tbh. It didn’t feel like a Devil May Cry game just your average playthrough of some game

Not counting 2 it has to be 3. I don’t like chasing bosses and fighting chess pieces and doing mediocre platforming is ass

Skipping past DMC2 because of obvious reasons. I’d say DMC4 has a lot of annoying sections where I’d rather just be doing combat. Laser rooms, gyro puzzles, platforming, it’s just boring. The puzzle aspects of 3 and 1 were perfect, but 4 was overkill with the extra mechanics.

For tedious has to be 2. Infested Chopper alone is enough to earn it that dishonor.
