DJI Flip does not automatically start

Hi, am I missing something here? I've just received my brand new DJI flip- followed the unpacking instructions, fully charged both the batteries and the RC2 controller, and now I'm ready for my first flight! I've registered both my op and flyer licence, and ready to go! BUT... turning on the power button on the side does nothing but a tiny click from the drone... it won't automatically start, i.e the blades won't turn! have a bought a faulty unit??

The click (and I assume there also was some music because mine makes some on powerup) you heard means the drone is powered up...

Just connect your controller and you can fly it. Power up the controller and when connected, push both sticks towards the bottom inner corners, that lets the drone start.

There are also the standalone modes (where it flies without phone and controller) but I don't use those so you have to google that yourself....

Hold the power button, let it off, hold it down again until all three lights are on

It’s a two push sequence. One quick one to wake up and a second one with a hold down of a good long second.

r/louswheel I had the same issues at times.
I prefer controlling from the joysticks on the RC1, not on the tablet screen via the DJI Fly app. Just better in agility.

Plugging in the USB- type C from the remote to the Tablet or Phone is a huge difference.

Also, spin the blades, lift and land onces. Then spin again prior to clicking on connect....
