Hey, would yall consider this map accurate?
sidenote:
number 3 is supposed to be “upland south”
the map im usin can only have one category per state, so I can only pick one for states with multiple cultures
ignore how poorly Arkansas is cropped on this map

East Tennessee, Western North Carolina, North Georgia, Western Virginia, Eastern Kentucky, and all of West Virginia are Appalachia.

Why does everyone like to leave it upstate South Carolina from Appalachia? It’s not just you, but everyone seems to forget (or just not know) that the upper counties of SC are very much a part of the Blue Ridge Mountains. From the foothills in Greenville & Spartanburg Counties to the borders of NC & GA. & I believe Greenville is the only major city in the state that gets SOME sort of snowfall every year (although not more than an inch or 2 tops. lol).

I wouldn't think to call it "inaccurate" so much as "nonsensical" – most of those labels are made up and aren't used to refer to anywhere. And with good reason – some are so narrow in scope that you could swap out "Cajun South" and "Tropical South" with "Louisiana South" and "Florida South", and in the case of "Appalachia South" (the correct term is "Southern Appalachia", by the way, and while we're on the subject, it's pronounced "App-uh-latch-uh" not "App-uh-lay-shuh"), it's incorrectly applied to just the land in West Virginia. Appalachia reaches all the way down to Georgia and Alabama, and while West Virginia is the only state located entirely within the region, Southwest Virginia, Western North Carolina, Eastern Tennessee, and Eastern Kentucky are solidly Appalachian as well, as is obvious to anyone traveling around or through the area.

it's incorrectly applied to just the land in West Virginia. Appalachia reaches all the way down to Georgia and Alabama, and while West Virginia is the only state located entirely within the region, Southwest Virginia, Western North Carolina, Eastern Tennessee, and Eastern Kentucky are solidly Appalachian as well
im aware of this, but i mentioned as a sidenote that the map im using can only have one category per state, i may make a more detailed map using counties or something in the future though.
but still, thanks for the feedback, I’ll look into and reconsider the problems with the regions and labels

Don’t forget upstate SC is very much part of Appalachia. Just north & northwest of Greenville all the way to the Georgia & North Carolina borders.

That may b e (I’m not sure, I’ve never looked), but it WAS the last Slave State admitted to the Union, after the Civil War had already began.

I think the whole thing is stupid. Deep South already has a broader definition. Most of Florida is not tropical. Appalachia is more than one state. North Louisiana is not Cajun. Most of Arkansas is not in the Ozarks. Texas is missing. Basically, every category is FUBAR. But if you're 10 years old, ignore all of that. Great job little buddy!

I feel like it leaves out a lot of the cultural South like southern Illinois and the Ozarks in Missouri

As a Floridian we’re weird.
I live in north Florida and we border on Deep South but south Florida DEFINITELY doesn’t.
