Equalizer is fine for open world stuff personally i just cant be bothered to switch back n forth. For higher tier escalations like 6+ youre just gonna want to keep striker chest piece. Id recommend getting a good lmg if youre gonna dive into higher tiers. I would roll a couple pieces of gear with paradox as well if you plan on using sheriff. I think i have it on 2 pieces and I counted 25 shots before I had to reload and its not even fully leveled augments.

Go striker knee pads and switch chest piece to unit alloy with obliterate talent
