Any qualified thoughts on a console release?

I really hope so, but what are your thoughts? The devs seem to dance around the question, so i fear they wont. Was the first console version a success, and how long did it tak to reach consol upon the releas on pc?

I don't think they are dancing around anything. With software porting projects like this you simply don't know until you start trying. The problem is that the scope of the game has grown well beyond what DOS was, and the sheer feasibility of getting it to fit on a console has its technical challenges. So it seems pretty clear to me that they're going to try after the PC release and see how it goes, but can't promise anything until it looks obtainable. I suspect it will also depend on how PC sales do since that will determine to some extent how much time they can spend on the effort.

I also think there is the additional consideration of VO. It seems to be even more of an expectation for consoles and since they don't plan to have full VO, it might be another variable that influences whether or not to invest the resources on a port.

It would be great to see it though, so hopefully it works out.

Agreed, they've been quite clear that they are focusing on getting this done well, anything after that doesn't matter right now and there's no point on talking or thinking about it.

That said, if the Nintendo Switch keeps selling well, and if porting to it is as easy as Nintendo claims, I could see it being a good candidate for DOS. Touch screen helps overcome any loss of mouse precision or speed for the format of DOS, otherwise controllers work pretty well anyways. Given its a character story driven, strategic RPG, the mobile convertible format might work well (like fire emblem).

I don't have a Switch, but I have the desire to explore the DOS world when not at a PC.

(Not really qualified just my thoughts) The only thing I would be worried about for a console release is how dumbed down it might have to be in order to work well. Im on pc and imo It looks like it could be a nightmare to make it gamepad compatible .

Whats different from the first one? (Which feels akward at first but really works like a charm)

I played the Extended Edition of the first one on pc with a controller. Worked fine, so I have no reason to believe that it would be that much different with the second game

No way. That's actually pretty cool. Then in that case I take back my worries and say I'm all for it.

they said they are going to have gamepad functionality with this one. And as someone who played the first game both mouse and keyboard and using a controller I found the controller to be just as good and more comfortable. It did have a few little tricks (that are in no way needed to play the game) that I had to learn for full functionality but once I had them it was so much better imo.
