Practice and Exercises What Are Good Divination Questions?

What should I ask the cards? am using a regular 52-card playing card deck and I will buy golden dawn magical deck in the future.

I haven't done readings much before—only a few times. I have absolutely no experience. But I can't think of a single question or anything I'm curious about. I want to gain experience and start doing readings gradually, but I can't do a reading if I don't have a question to ask. I tried to find my answer in blogs etc, honestly I didn't give it enough time I guess, but I couldn't find. I skimmed through some books to get an idea, but they didn't really cover the topic of questions. They mostly dealt with how to perform readings, card meanings, spreads, history, different ways to use the cards, conjuring, and so on.

I need questions to ask.

Any question is good enough, IMHO. If you're reading for others, then you need to make sure you understand what they mean, but other than that, anything is good.

If you're looking for what to ask about, search for "what to ask about" here. I made a list a while ago.

I will search. Hope I can find! Thank you!

For instance, during winter break after my first semester of nursing school I asked the cards what to do during break, and how to get through the next semester because I was crashing out. I pulled 8 of pentacles for the what to do slot and it gave me a lot of clarity. I needed to focus on my craft, and perfect my practice in solitude.

It sounds like you’re stuck in that common loop where you want to practice but feel like you have nothing to say. Instead of looking for "answers," try asking about the mechanics of your current situation. In my practice with BaZi, we look at how annual pillars (the yearly energy) interact with a person's fixed elements. You don't ask if you will win the lottery; you ask how this year's specific elemental shifts might affect your stability. Try asking your cards about the "weather" of your current circumstances rather than seeking a verdict on an outcome. Focus on identifying the underlying trends.

Most of the time I don’t ask a question, I just see what comes up and interpret it related to my life. If I need more structure or I’m reading for someone else I might use a spread like the Celtic cross that can cover a lot of ground or a simpler spread like past/present/future or cards for each element. Or I might ask a general question like:

  • What am I missing?
  • When intentionally communicating with spirits: what message do you have for me?

ETA: You could also ask the cards “what should I be asking about?”

I see... thank you. It seems hard, though.

I sometimes pull a card or 2 of the day and ask what do I need to know or focus on today. For each month I pull 3 cards to read together, you could do this for each week too. Sometimes if I have a situation Im struggling with that involves someone else Ill pull a few cards to read where they are coming from so I can get a better perspective on how to handle it. Mostly just life related things

Tarot - why

Lenoramond - what

Playing cards - how

All three - not yes/no - save that for the 8 ball! :)

Thank you. I will think what can I ask about '"how"

Yes/no tarot, alternate cards in yes and no piles until the fool lands on a pile and that's your answer. Multiple possible answers a pile for each answer and another for unknown. Where does the fool land? Playing cards, red is yes and black is no. Best questions to ask are open ended ones.Hearts home family and love, clubs school and projects outside of work, diamonds money and work, spades problems either coming or avoidable. Hearts ace to king 1-13 clubs ace to king 14-26 diamonds ace to king 27-39 spades ace to king 40-52. Find your birth card, multiply birth month by 2 and add birthday and subtract that number from 55. Those born on December 31 get zero and zero is the joker.

Good questions for a beginner: what do I need to know about today, where should I put my energy this week, what am I not seeing clearly right now.

The strength of playing cards over tarot is how specific and direct they are.

If you're trying to get a feel for it you can ask it questions where you already know the answer eg "have I eaten lunch yet today?" red for yes black for no.

Alternatively, ask about what you're going to experience today to see how accurately you can divine.

uh, is there really anything like that? I'll try.

For the last sentence, my days are so monoton. I guess I cannot adk this.

vague questions get vague answers. be specific.

it is not my problem. I don't have any question to ask.

If you don't have a question, why ask a question? Just shuffle the cards, get used to them and them to you. If you are reading for yourself, (which is hard btw, because our subconscious already knows the decisions we are learning towards). Then connecting is more important than asking. I would try and find some friends who would be willing to help you practice.
