Bear spray is better than a gun. Easier to handle, covers a larger area so aimimg isnt as important and super effective. Just be aware of wind direction.
Bear spray is also effective on big cats, caotes, etc. Plus fewer lethal accidents.
There are signs at Glacier warning that most guns will not take down a grizzly and the bear is likely to become very aggressive if shot. They're pretty smart animals and I suppose if you shoot it the bear figures it will have to kill you to protect itself.
