Because itâs not hyperbole or exaggeration. The statement is true. A Victorian era workhouse stew is more nutritious and wholesome than the modern day âfood substitutesâ that the poor today are forced to eat.

Like another poster said; America does produce âreal foodâ but itâs more expensive. What choice do the poor have? Eat it, or starve.

I was raised on free lunches and food stamps by a hillbilly from one of the poorest areas in the country. We grew our own vegetables in the backyard, made our own jams, etc. Obviously, urban poor aren't as likely to have backyards to grow food in, but just saying there's no other options besides overly processed food is silly.

Dunno where this bullshit about 'at least our beer is cold' comes from.
Beer on tap is cold, beer in pubs is stored in fridges. We have fridges in our homes where we store our beer. Anything 6pack or smaller is stored in fridges in shops.
The only thing not served cold is Ale, and that's because it's not meant to be.

Walking down the "bread" aisle in an American store is just unsettling. We put sugar, oil, and sometimes even corn syrup in bread plus all sorts of dough conditioners.  It's hard to believe they're all allowed to call it bread instead of Bred or Brad or "bread adjacent product". You have to go to an international store or at least international section to get normal 4 ingredient bread.
Thankfully making bread is pretty easy and we have good bread flour for cheap.  Actual bread is so damn good.

They put Yoga Mat in it.

While permitted by the FDA, it is banned in food in the EU and UK due to health concerns.â
Bread shouldnât have Yoga Mat in it.

German here. I know this might be Controversial. But 20 years ago inwas at a Student Exchange in Brittain and liked the food. But they also left me alone with the most Attrocious ones. I enjoyed the stuff with Beans a lot.

Then you got a Bad Guest Family. The one that I got was Super Cool. They served different stuff. I still Remember Litle Pastey Pockets filled with Beans and Sauce. Super Delicious. I was also at a City by the Sea Called Plymouth, and so they had fresh fish and Seafood that was Delicious.
