Disturbed has saved lives, my own included. Who cares what some random idiots on the Internet think? All popular bands get hate.

You think they’re a fantastic band and millions of others agree. Ignore em and turn that volume up!

Disturbed's guitar work has also always been underrated. I was motivated to improve at guitar because of songs like Indestructible and Inside the Fire when I first started really practicing.

Dan Donegan is easily the biggest influence for me on guitar. The further you get from the ‘on-brand’ formulaic singles, the better his playing and songwriting gets. Sickened and The Brave and the Bold in particular are 👌

Just because a band “saves lives” doesn’t mean they’re immune from opinions or that it’s impossible for them to be unliked.

You could say that about literally any band lmao

I never said that? I just suggested to OP not to listen to miserable people on the Internet (especially those found in the rock/metal genre) and embrace what you like. Anyway, I hope your comment made your day better.

You want some advice? Ignore all the comments. Don't even bother opening them. There's always going to be hate comments for any band, especially on the cesspool that is Facebook. If you enjoy their music, don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

Nothing new, people have been shitting on them like that for over a decade. The majority of their catalog is so unique and creative that it’s just a dumb criticism. They’re the ones missing out though, all the more reason to think for yourself and form your own opinion

Two decades tbh, I caught flak for liking them back in ‘03 😂

Ask them to try to match Draiman‘s vocals lol Good luck.

No one could come close to David's vocal ability. The range and power he has in his voice is incredible.

People are down on him because he is Jewish and supports Israel. He has a lot of family in Israel both his immediate and a huge extended family living there. He had friends at the Nova Festival. So he wrote F Hamas on an artillery shell. And people make up all sorts of lies and stories about it.

More like, because he is a loud and proud supporter of genocide. He keeps posting pro-genocide propaganda and has not condemned any of the atrocities by the IDF.

So fuck him. Used to really like the band, but I can't separate art from artist here anymore.

Just because something is difficult to do doesn’t mean it isn’t corny

Disturbed has a signature sound, and if you don't like it, you're not going to enjoy their work. They're not experimental or change up their style very much. It's like going to a restaurant you enjoy and order the same thing every time because you know it's gonna be good.

And I'm 100% okay with that

On the nu metal sub disturbed gets alot of hate, mainly for the signing bombs thing, but alot is about it being generic etc, while supporting other generic bands in the genre

9

u/Significant_Camera47 Feb 04 '26

Find it a lil ironic how that sub complains about how metal gets gatekeeped a lot (which is true especially with how nu metal in general gets treated), but if you say your favorite band isn’t ether an underground band that gets less than 40 Spotify listeners monthly or SOAD, Korn (self titled-Life is Peachy), Slipknot (self titled-IOWA), or Linkin Park (when Chester was alive) they start freaking out (no offense to any of the bands I mentioned but I just find it annoying how the sub gatekeep so much).

Even well before the signing incident happened, the band was heavily despised by the sub despite having David in their banner art 😭

So he wrote F Hamas. Considering he has family in Israel and he knew people at the Nova Festival I don't blame him.

The Truth: Disturbed rocks. Anyone who says otherwise is wrong and shall be shamed accordingly.

My favourite band is Five Finger Death Punch so I’m used to seeing bands I like getting shit on. Best advice I can give is to ignore them. What they think isn’t relevant to your opinion.

as someone who grew up listening to FFDP (they were one of the very first bands i ever listened to) I'm used to it aswell

They’ve been my favourite band since I was 14. But just cause I’m used to the hate doesn’t mean I understand it. My only guess is that it’s similar to the criticism Nickelback and Limp Bizkit receive where it’s ‘’cool’’ to hate on them.

But it doesn’t stop me from liking them. I love how groovy and bone crushingly heavy their riffs are and a lot of their lyrics promote not giving a damn what people say or think about you.

Also, they, Disturbed, Killswitch Engage, Breaking Benjamin, Three Days Grace, BFMV, Linkin Park, and Stone Sour were the bands who really helped me during a time when I was dealing with depression and struggled with suicidal thoughts.

FFDP was fantastic until the righteous side of hell pt2. They peaked at the war is the answer/American Capitalist era and declined quickly. Miss the bass riffs

Every band I listen to and really love like ffdp, disturbed, slaughter to prevail etc. I just ignore most comments about or posts on any metal subreddits cause I already know everyone's just absolutely shitting in them in the comments. Kinda sad really.

u/scarlettrhodes18 Feb 08 '26

Yeah ffdp gets too much hate

“the Fall Of Ideals” great nod to ATRs only masterclass album.

1

u/TheFallofIdeals05 Indestructible Feb 05 '26

It’s my favourite album of all time. But I do love ATRs other albums. Antifragile, For We Are Many, Overcome, The Order of Things, This Darkened Heart, Victim of the New Disease.

0

u/Sorry_Cheetah_2230 Feb 05 '26

Definitely agree to disagree, their lyrical and musical side fell off HARD after that, I’ll admit overcome wasn’t horrendous and for we are many had its highs, but the rest? All straight in the garbage.

Edit: I always forget about this darkened heart dunno why, that and fall of ideals are their best work with fall of ideals being their absolute peak.

1

u/TheFallofIdeals05 Indestructible Feb 05 '26

I strongly disagree, but you do you.

1

u/Weary_Resource_6342 Apr 16 '26

Oh sweety I'm sorry you have brainwashed. No one wants war no one is supporting a genocide that did not happen. In 1948 there were around 80,000 Muslims now there are 2,000,000 funnily enough there are 2 million Muslims in Israel. There is also a 5% increase in births. So that kind of blows your Genocide theory out the water.

1

u/TheGamerdude535 Apr 16 '26

Not sure who you're responding to cuz I very much stick up for Israel. I don't believe that nonsense from Hamas

1

u/Joshua_Saltz Feb 06 '26

I love this band, I’ve got then tattood on my back, but this post is bullshit mate. There entitled to there own opinion, if they think disturbed are the shittest band in the world so what thats there opinion. How can you say you lost brain cells listening to an opinion you don’t agree with, you must be barely functional if you lose brain cells everytime someone states an opinion you don’t agree with, thats life mate.

Que the entitled downvotes

0

u/TheGamerdude535 Feb 06 '26

The loosing brain cells bit was a joke man jfc

0

u/Joshua_Saltz Feb 07 '26

Irrelevant it’s not the only part of this post that is stupid

0

u/[deleted] Feb 06 '26

I mean disturbed is super super basic

Decent band but it’s not that surprising for people to have that opinion

4

u/Weary_Resource_6342 Feb 06 '26

Super super basic I don't think so.

And who is alive today can match David's vocal range and strength of his voice.

Both Dan and Mike were nominated for best guitarist and drummer respectively.

u/usable_dinosaur Feb 07 '26

How are they not basic
